Can’t say enough great things about Synergy and the team there. 4 years later we are still happy to provide recommendations and testimonials. They took great care in our planning, white-gloving every aspect of the process. During construction, both Synergy and their onsite contractors took our feedback to adjust things as needed. They even set us up with the equipment necessary so a family of four (with a toddler and a dog) could function without a kitchen and dining room—which was no small feat. It was the small stuff and the big stuff. The whole experience from end to end was unmatched. I can only liken it to the type of personal care and forethought that you get from a 5-star hotel or restaurant. I enthusiastically recommend them and would not hesitate to use them for our next project.

I would give Synergy ten stars if I could. Working with them was a dream. We renovated our basement. It is beautiful, but the process was fantastic. They were meticulous and organized and forthcoming on the costs, keeping us updated as we went along. The communication really lowered the stress of the process for me. As the owners of a specialized contracting company, we knew we would be very particular when choosing a design build firm for our main level home renovation. We always dreamed of transforming our mid-century modern ranch style home located to be more open with a larger kitchen, more usable living space and a walk-in pantry. We chose to work with Synergy because we knew we could trust them to follow a timely and proven process, that the work would be of the highest quality, and the experience would be positive. We especially liked the fact that they have a lot of experience working with Reston homes. Now after having gone through the process, we are happy to say that they exceeded our expectations! The most important part of the process was the design phase. We provided Synergy with all of our goals including the feeling we wanted in the space and the challenges we wanted to address. For example, at the center of the main level was a large double-sided, brick fireplace on either side of the kitchen and living space which made our living space very choppy. Synergy put together three different designs that allowed us to visualize the space. We played with different parts of the designs and came up with new ideas together to finalize the plans. The team was extremely quick at making CAD revisions. We chose the most significant design change with the engineering challenge of removing the chimney and fireplace, moving the kitchen from the front of the house to the back. One of our favorite parts of the process was working through the details of the kitchen cabinetry, appliance layout and design. It was very methodical and easy. Synergy set up a very structured construction timeline, helped setup our temporary kitchen and provided weekly updates. We lived in our home during the renovation and they made sure to keep it as clean as possible and safe for our cats. Synergy was not satisfied until we were satisfied. We saw this from the detailed carpentry work, to helping us make the right selections especially for lighting selections which were the hardest decisions for us, to the exact placement of lighting or the wall length. The entire team worked carefully, diligently, and made the process easy and fun. At times, we were very particular clients and it never seemed to rattle the team. We were investing a lot into our dream home project, and they wanted to make the space right for us. From the beginning to the very final punch out items, they were responsive and addressed our requests fairly and quickly. This project was very complex and required a lot of custom work. The Synergy team had the skill and experience to plan and execute the work the right way. Amazingly, even with some product delays, they completed the work one week ahead of time!! Synergy Design & Construction did an amazing job with our main floor renovation. This was a complicated project with structural constraints. Mark and his team were amazing communicators throughout the project, both with us and with all the trades that were involved. Lead carpenter Chris was like one of the family by the time we finished. They took great care with controlling dust, cleaning up each day, and making sure the quality of work met our expectations. We could not have been happier and will be using them again for our upcoming laundry room renovation.

Synergy is the best thing that ever happened to our home! What was once a home lost in the 1980’s and over-loved by 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats is now a dream home that looks like a photo from a magazine! We spoke with a number of local companies before deciding on our remodeling partner. Right from the beginning, no other company established the same professional and personable impression as Synergy did. From the very beginning, we were impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the design and project-management teams. Synergy not only completed the project during the COVID-19 pandemic, they seamlessly coordinated with our building's management and worked through the many restrictions that come with remodeling a condo. The construction crews working at our home were kind and considerate - they worked diligently to ensure everything was perfectly executed as per the design. They also cleaned up and made the space safe after each day. We had a fantastic experience and are both really happy with our new home! We used Synergy to finish our basement and they were outstanding. They place great emphasis on the design phase and work closely with you in a collaborative way to make sure you are getting what you want. They spent hours measuring every inch of the basement before breaking ground to ensure that there would be no surprises later on. During the construction, they host weekly meetings to make sure expectations are being met and that we knew what was happening at all times. The finished project far exceeded our expectations!

We did a full remodel of our basement in the fall of 2022 - including adding a new media room with a complete bar. The entire process from start to finish was fantastic. Mina and Mark were easy to work with and really listened to what we wanted to get out of the space, resulting in a design that we love. Mina really got to know us and understood our preferences and it was evident in the finishes and how the process ran. The team was always on-time, professional and did exceptional work. The weekly meetings and budget updates were great and they finished early! We love the new space and we can't recommend the Synergy team enough!

I chose Synergy for my remodel because from the outset it was clear they were organized, detail oriented and had great project management processes and tools so we could communicate easily and see progress along the way. I didn't want to have to manage any part of the process and I had every confidence they would be easy to work with and would deliver on-time and on-budget. Synergy remodeled our kitchen, pantry, and flooring and we are so pleased both with the outcome and our experience. Working with the unique, original layout of our kitchen, Synergy was able to present us with multiple design options, ultimately landing on a final design that is beautiful and functional. While we doubt anyone enjoys the construction process, Synergy made it as painless as possible with a reliable in-house team, by cleaning daily, and through constantly communicating progress and expectations. We've done kitchen and bath remodels in our prior home, and the experience of working with a design-build firm is far superior. Wow! I was concerned going into a large remodeling project - after moving frequently and living in rentals abroad, we had no experience with this kind of project. We renovated our kitchen, added a bar and powder room, remodeled our primary bath, added a closet and recessed lighting in 2 rooms. Synergy was a DREAM to work with. They were great communicators, excellent about thinking through design issues and considerations, on time, and stand by their work. They set up an alternate kitchen for us to work with and were great about helping to keep our house livable throughout the process. Finally, they helped us make selections we truly love and enjoy. Synergy completed a renovation of our kitchen, dining room, and family room one year ago, and we absolutely love the work that was done to update our home. The process from start to finish was smooth and timely, with outstanding communication throughout, including a follow-up at the one-year mark to ask if we had any issues that needed to be addressed. The entire Synergy team was focused on ensuring that we were happy with the project, and that included being patient but helpful as we agonized over decisions such as cabinets, tile, and lights. As an accountant and engineer, we tend to be detail-oriented, but the Synergy team always seemed to be one step ahead of us on questions or issues. The process was very organized, and the lead carpenter ensured that we knew what was happening every day. We also appreciated that the construction team identified some structural problems from previous work that had been done in the house, and they ensured that the issues were addressed with no impact on our timeline or budget. Finally, we can’t say enough about the professionalism of the team. Their work was first-rate, and we actually enjoyed having them around the house for several months! Synergy remodeled our kitchen, master bathroom, as well as some of our main floor over the Summer of 2022. We LOVE how our home turned out. Synergy nailed the design and the execution! We had an incredible experience from start to finish. Synergy has a very organized and well thought out process that includes regular weekly meetings. All the decisions we made were broken down into manageable chunks. We knew what our budget was throughout (they are very good at estimating). The team showed up every day from 8am to 4pm as promised and left things very tidy. Everything went so smooth! Synergy took care of us before, during, and after our project like no other contractor! The entire crew has incredible attention to detail, are extremely customer service oriented and professional, and treated our home as if it were their own. Mark, Mina, Emily, Barbara, Matt, and Henry - you all did a FANTASTIC job and we can't thank you enough. Some extra touches that we were floored by include: a lattice structure that disguised the the port-a-potty in our driveway, beginning on the exact start date they committed to months earlier, all the care to minimize the spreading of dust inside our home, the makeshift kitchen they loaned us and helped us setup, the celebration video with personal messages from the team, having professional cleaners come in after construction, and some other personal touches that prove they really got to know us! My experience with Synergy was fantastic and is unlike any other company I have worked with. We remodeled our kitchen in 2021 and their team of designers worked with us every step of the way to ensure our vision is perfectly executed. Emily provided thoughtful feedback throughout the design process and her sense of perfection meant every detail was accounted for. Choosing the right home improvement contractor is not an easy task. There are many out there with great websites, pictures, reviews. After interviewing the top 5 that we narrowed down, including one that was recommended by our friend, what made the difference was we felt so at ease and comfortable with Synergy. All the other contractors had great ideas and presented well, but they did not give us the connection we felt with Synergy. Sometimes you go with whom you "like" the most. Synergy took care of the entire process for our basement remodel and it was about as well run and smooth as possible for a home renovation. From the design to the daily tasks, every aspect of the project, even cookie delivery, was tracked in our project portal. We knew exactly what was going on each day and every question was answered immediately. In addition, there were weekly on-site progress meetings for additional details and in person time with the project manager. The design team took our concept and came up with designs that exceeded our expectations. The on-site team turned the design into reality while treating our home with respect and were always on time. We couldn't be happier with our incredible renovated basement and have been enjoying it with friends and family. Even months after completion, any requests for minor issues have been responded and resolved quickly.

Synergy remodeled our primary bathroom to give it a real spa-like feel, while installing several "age-in-place" features we may need some day. They also remodeled our small, blah laundry/utility room and turned it into an attractive space that makes me happy every time I go in. All of the design people and tradespeople who did the work were absolutely top-notch and VERY customer-oriented, which made for as painless an experience as could be possible with a remodel. We had online access to all our plans, budget, and schedule, so we always knew exactly where we stood during the process. And the end results are beautiful.

Synergy remodeled nearly our entire home. After a decade in our house, it was time for a major change and we were elated with the outcome. The remodel wrapped up a few months ago but I still pause and think about what our home looked like before the remodel compared to now and it’s hard not to be thankful. The design team suggested some hardware changes that really tied in the new lighting fixtures and other updates into a cohesive design. We greatly appreciated everyone at Synergy making the remodel a fantastic experience. Everyone’s hard work on site and behind the scenes was outstanding. Throughout the process our input was heard, our questions were answered, and we felt at ease. We know some people going through home renovations who are having very different experiences than ours and hearing their stories reinforces why we chose to work with Synergy. We showed our home on multiple Zoom calls with family and friends who love the work and are blown away by the before and after. Our neighbors have seen the photos Synergy posted from a photo shoot and love the work as well. Speaking of neighbors, Synergy sent letters out before construction began to make them aware of the work which was greatly appreciated by our neighbors.

We chose to work with Synergy because they provide a broad range of services and were able to remodel both our Kitchen and build a screened porch at the same time. What really impressed us was the thoughtful design process and the detailed level of planning that took place upfront. When it came to construction, we really appreciated having a dedicated Lead Carpenter on our project. He was always very considerate of the fact we were living in our home during construction and kept us informed about what was happening - and when! The whole team was very responsive and were always available to answer questions and come up with solutions when any issues did arise. The online project management system was great and allowed us to easily follow along with the project. What surprised us the most about the experience was that it really wasn't that disruptive! We absolutely love the finished spaces and it doesn't get much better than spending family time together relaxing and enjoying them !

Communication was the hallmark of our Synergy experience. Their talented team made a commitment on cost, schedule and quality, and lived up to it in every way. We would not hesitate to use them again. The number one reason we picked Synergy was the professionalism and punctuality of the team from the outset! We met with a number of different contractors, but there was a stark contrast between them and everything about Synergy - from their online presence to the level of service to the authentic nature of the team. We liked they had a clearly defined process and were clearly driven by being on time and on schedule. The carpentry team was excellent - respectful, considerate and on time! They did everything they could to make the process as easy as possible on our family. The communication was great throughout the construction process and when issues/concerns did arise, they were quickly resolved. We talked to someone in the industry who told us to expect to be 25% over budget and 50% over on schedule and we couldn't believe how on budget and on schedule our project was! We have already recommended Synergy to others.

My wife and I contracted with Synergy to undertake a complete renovation of the antiquated kitchen in our house. We had previously done a complete home renovation with an architect and builder, so we thought we had some idea of what to expect, but almost immediately upon beginning to consult with the Synergy team we realized that they were in a completely different class. From the very first, the Synergy team presented us with many options for the renovation, showing us the different potential kitchen configurations in beautiful 3D renderings. Before any of the work began, we had an exceptionally strong idea of what the finished product would look like. More importantly, Synergy gave us detailed estimates for both the cost of the project and the time it would take to complete. During the three month construction phase, there was a Synergy employee on site every day to monitor the work and the team met with us weekly to review the progress. They sent us regular emails and updates as well. Most importantly, the level of attention to detail that Synergy brought to our kitchen renovation was the highest possible; every cabinet, every appliance, every piece of trim was aligned and re-aligned and every measurement was exact. As with other construction projects, there were other unexpected "issues" that arose during the work, but Synergy handled them in the most professional way possible, giving us a detailed explanation of what the problem was, why it was caused, and options for solving the situation. And incredibly, our kitchen was returned to us on the day it was promised; completely renovated, brand new, organized for our family to enjoy time together and - believe it or not - under the expected cost. We could not be happier with the professionalism of the Synergy team; aside from the quality of their work, they are kind, warm and caring people.

We highly recommend Synergy, especially when you don't have the time/availability to personally oversee a project. We bought our home nine months before we moved in (long story) and wanted to take advantage of that time to do a big renovation. I did a lot of research looking for design/build companies in the area before choosing Synergy. Mark and Mina were great helping us decide where our money could go the furthest in our new home. The house had a cramped, dark kitchen next to a small dining room. Synergy tore down the wall dividing them and gave us a dream kitchen. Stacey was wonderful taking us to all the stores to pick granite, hardware, etc. We were living in Boston throughout the actual construction process and felt confident the entire time that our home was in good hands. We held weekly FaceTime meetings to monitor progress. Synergy was very responsive throughout. As a bonus, my brother and sister-in-law live next door and checked up on their progress for us. They repeatedly told us how impressed they were with Synergy's cleanliness and organization. Since our big reno project, we've also called them for smaller jobs, like building swinging doors for our deck stairs so we could let our dog hang out there without running away. And we still have a list of projects for them in future. The whole Synergy team is full of good, down to earth people who were always personable, professional, and responsive. We had a previous remodel not go well, so when we started looking for someone to redo our kitchen and master bath, we were extremely cautious. Synergy made the whole experience a pleasure, from start to finish. They responded to our initial request within 24 hours and from the very beginning were always on time for calls and meetings. They listened to our concerns about our existing space and provided several well thought out design options for us to choose from. They listened and incorporated our suggestions and helped us come up with the best option for our family. Once work started on the project, their punctuality and professionalism continued. They were here on time every morning and cleaned up before they left every day. They responded to any concerns we brought up immediately and provided solutions. From the very beginning, Synergy demonstrated a high level of integrity. We also wanted to work with a local firm who were members of the community. We talked to a couple of other firms, and one said "you don't really need permits" and we were taken aback anyone would do that. We appreciated what Synergy stood for and that the work would be done right. The warmth of the team was obvious from the very start. We enjoyed working with the carpenter assigned to our project and how diligent he was. Although a remodel is disruptive, Synergy did everything they could to make it go smoothly. The VERY best experience from beginning to end! Transparency, Communication, Collaboration and Great Service – these are the key characteristics we were looking for in a renovation company and Synergy absolutely ticked all of the boxes. In searching for a contractor for our basement remodel in Reston, it was important to find people we could trust, and with whom we could forge a convivial relationship. My wife and I were happy to participate in Mina's “Before to After in 30 Days: Get Unstuck and Redesign Your Home” program! Sure enough, we got 'unstuck' in those 30 days with Mina's structured guidance and motivation, and were able to make improvements to our bathroom that we had been thinking about for some time. Mina was very helpful in giving suggestions and action items, as well as being open to all kinds of questions we had. Her friendliness and contagious enthusiasm really shined through and made participation in the program an enjoyable and productive experience!

Synergy built for us an addition with a sitting room, powder room, master bedroom, walk-in closet and master bath. We were told by someone who had worked with Synergy in the past that they were fanatical about detail. He was right. From planning to construction, oversight of the subcontractors, coordination with the County and taking care of our needs and worries, they were totally on the ball. A relative who works on renovations in California told me to check on the construction every night to see that the windows and doors were installed according to the plans. Each night, I found the measurements were exact, everything that was to be level was level, to be plumb was plumb. Great carpentry. The subcontractors all showed up for when they were scheduled and stayed into the evening to complete their work, overseen by the lead carpenter. If a problem arose, it was immediately taken care of. The office staff spend a great deal of time helping us in picking out tile, bathroom fixtures, lighting and colors of paint. We actually changed our minds on the colors for our sitting room, the room was repainted with no problem, and we could not be happier with the results. The project was completed exactly on time. When they say they really want you to be happy with the results of their work, they mean it. Every person on staff was terrific.

Synergy did a complete renovation of our basement, plus several small jobs that came up along the way. Their design expertise was invaluable. The project management and communication (both in person and via their Basecamp web site) were fantastic. They thought of every detail and made things simple for us at every turn. Costs were kept under control and the project came in on time. The final product is a fantastic space we will enjoy for years to come. Their slogan "Renovate happy" is definitely a guiding principle for them.

One of the things we really liked about Synergy was, they curate their list of vendors so if you’re going to need a plumber on your job, they’re going to bring in the plumber they work with that they think is the best. And as they put it in one of our pre-meetings, if we’re giving that plumber $200,000 worth of business in the course of a year, when we tell him 6 months out, 4 weeks out, 2 weeks out, call him the day before to confirm he’s going to be there, he’s going to show up and show up on time. At 8o’clock you could rely on them being there (you have a choice of 7:30 or 8) and not only was the crew there, but so was our Synergy person in charge. Drake took complete charge of the job. We didn’t have to worry about dealing with subcontractors. He knew what they were doing all the time and he worked with us beautifully. And the renovation was completed exactly on schedule! I wish I had six more houses and if I did I would renovate them all and I would use Synergy.”

My wife and I had been considering doing a major renovation to our Reston townhome for a long time. The quirky “Renovate Happy” slogan is no joke. You really can renovate without the hassle and headaches. The Synergy Team took care of everything while renovating our newly purchased 1950’s house. It has been transformed into a home we are proud to show off to our friend’s and neighbors. They truly helped us attain our vision transforming a diamond in the rough. The finished project exceeded our expectations, as did the management of the process. The attention to detail was astonishing as well as the personalized service. Mina kept detailed notes of all our meetings and truly understood our priorities as well as aesthetic. The whole team made us feel like we were their primary focus throughout the entire process. We were on a tight timeline, made all the more difficult by our “add-ons” throughout the project, and Synergy delivered and never once made us feel like we were asking too much. Their focus is truly on customer satisfaction. The online Renovation Roadmap tool helped us to feel a part of the process even though we were not able to be on site each day. Also, knowing that Matt and Lonnie were on-site each day put our minds at ease. My wife and I were living in London when we contacted Synergy. Our Arlington townhome had been rented for the past 18 years and needed to be completely remodeled top to bottom. Thank you to the Synergy team for all the great work on designing our perfect European kitchen. We certainly put everyone to the test, deciding to undertake this project while five months pregnant – with twins! Not only did Synergy work with us to ensure the project was completed on time, they stuck to it despite an unforeseen electrical set back (which is just as well as the twins decided to arrive 6 1/2 weeks early....) We are very happy with our new contemporary but family friendly kitchen and love the clean lines, large island, and beautiful tile. Our twin girls love it too but have yet to make us dinner!
