We had a fantastic experience working with k YODER Design on our master bathroom and basement renovation. We worried that we would be too small a fish for this firm with our relatively small project and modest budget. This was not the case -- we were made to feel like a priority client throughout the lifecycle of our project. k YODER provided beautiful, functional designs that perfectly captured the style we were looking for. They were flexible with our adjustments and modifications despite the fact that we were on a tight timeline, and expertly managed communication with our contractor to make sure everyone stayed aligned and that any issues were quickly addressed. I’ve worked with K Yoder Design on a number of projects now, and I honestly always look forward to it. My husband and I reached out to K Yoder design before we moved from our suburban home to become city dwellers. We needed a major renovation of a master bathroom in our mid-century modern house and contacted k YODER design because of their mid-century modern aesthetic. We had a contractor that we had worked with for years and just needed someone to help with the design which they were willing to accommodate. We worked primarily with Omar and Noelle, with Omar focusing on design and Noelle on interior decoration and materials. They gave us a number of design options to choose from and were very helpful with picking out and narrowing down materials for the floor and wall tiles. We appreciated the creative touches including hanging a tiered chandelier to fill space where we have a 10 foot ceiling. We would not have thought of that ourselves and now that the reno is finished, the design looks great and is highly functional.

My husband and I contracted k Yoder design, LLC, to renovate our International Style Home that was originally built in the late 1940s. Kevin, Omar, and their team were fantastic to work with. They were as interested as we were in preserving the character of the home while updating it for comfortable living and entertaining. The result is nothing short of amazing. We are so happy with the way it turned out and the expert guidance that Kevin and Omar provided to us, and the research they put into the subtle touches that were incorporated through the house, such as the Trufig outlets and switches around the house so that no outlets looked clunky and "faded" into the walls. Kevin and his team have been amazing. I have been traveling like a a madman, but I plan to update the review with few proper pictures shortly. These are near final but not quite. I initially hired them to handle furnishings for a city condo but ended up buying a house instead. They have been instrumental in pulling the various renovations together and helping my vision come to life. They've given great advice on what will work together and what won't and found great pieces for my consideration. We reclad a fireplace surround floor to ceiling, did two stone accent walls, chose a number of fixtures, living room furniture, kitchen backsplash and pulls, and odds and ends to pull things together.

The team at k YODER design developed a plan which transformed a dreary and unremarkable apartment in Center City, Philadelphia into a space that is beautiful and functional beyond our wildest dreams. My husband and I selected this particular apartment because of the location and the views of the city, with full knowledge that a gut renovation would be required. We were indeed fortunate to be referred to Kevin Yoder by friends who recommended him highly. The first meeting was held at the studio during which Kevin and his very talented associate, Omar Zaater, asked very thoughtful questions about our lives and our vision for the space. We were asked to collect online photos of things we loved. During the course of subsequent meetings, we considered many proposals, illustrated through 3D computer generated images (Omar) and also through detailed hand drawings done to scale (Kevin). This was wonderful! A comprehensive plan for the space was developed and architectural drawings were completed. The next step was the selection of finishes and products to be used in the project. We were guided in this process by Kevin and another associate, Noelle Friday, a truly gifted interior designer. Noel must have been born with an intuitive sense of how objects operate in space, as well as a keen eye for scale and proportion, She maintains a library of samples right in the studio- wood veneers, tiles, flooring, countertops, fabrics, etc. She also tracks down additional samples requested by clients. The whole team at k YODER design guided us in the selection of a general contractor. During the long construction phase, they made regular on-site visits, monitoring progress. I wholeheartedly recommend k YODER design.

Kyoder design exceeded our expectations for upgrading a 40 year old condo. Their fees were less than we anticipated. (No fair Kevin, if you are tempted to send another bill.) Our assignment for the team was to upgrade the kitchen and baths as well as provide extra closet and storage spaces. They helped with much more- selecting lighting fixtures, placement of furniture, selection of flooring and window treatments and changing hardware throughout the unit. Their design turned a tired 40-year-old layout into a sleek, sophisticated setting that reflected our eclectic tastes of modern and antique furniture and artwork. The understated kitchen design was exactly what we wanted, strong lines of the cabinets and appliances, variety of lighting effects and efficiency of use. It works! The baths have the same design as the kitchen. An alcove was turned into a clothes closet, another closet was enlarged into unused bedroom space and an entry area closet was redesigned to allow easier access to coats as well as added shelving. The team’s selections of lighting fixtures were an added plus. We splurged on a dining room Italian fixture and modern hallway but stayed on budget with other wall units. We topped off the construction with an exceptional modern stick light system for the living room controlled by a dimmer that changes the look of the room from well lit to soft. Most important was the pleasant dealing with Kevin and his team. They always presented options for our decisions. Kevin is a good listener, turning what he hears from us into attractive options. I can think of two times when I did not agree with his choices; of course, I won. Now that we have lived in the condo, I confess, I should have listened to him. We are so pleased with the result.

Kevin and his team at K Yoder design expertly led a very large team of collaborating professionals (conservators, general contractor, subcontractors, designers, preservationists, engineers) over the course of a 16-month effort to conserve our architecturally important mid-century house. Kevin's attention to detail, keen eye, perseverance, problem-solving and organizational skills and outstanding design talent all contributed to a beautiful and architecturally sensitive result that improved the home's livability while rigorously maintaining the integrity of Louis Kahn's design. Working with Kevin was very enjoyable and we were very pleased that he encouraged our input and ideas at every step. From the very beginning, Kevin understood and supported the objectives of the project and he was quick to get us back on track if we began to stray. What is there not to say about k YODER design. They are extremely helpful and kind. Always there to answer questions to the best of their ability. Office staff is very helpful in responding in a timely manner. Their work to us is exceptional. Kevin takes proud in his work. The complete renovation of the Lakehouse project literally was imagined by K Yoder design, LLC. Most potential buyers of this property thought there was no hope, and that it would need to be a complete tear-down and re-build. After some initial consulting with Kevin Yoder, he persuaded me that this project was possible and the property could be re-invented into a new amazing space. From day one, he treated this job as if it were his own home, and I felt absolutely confident letting him take the reigns. Even when the job hit some bumps in the road, as all do, Kevin always kept his cool and focused on the end product.
