There's a color called Raven, I think it's Ceaserstone, that looks a lot like. We looked at soapstone, I really wanted to love it, but DH could scratch it with his thumbnail and I didn't think I could manage that. We ended up with Via Lattea granite, honed, which also looks something like soapstone. They are all about the same price point.

Would you describe the via lattea as a black, charcoal or grey? It looks nice in pictures. Thanks for the idea!

I would say charcoal. Of course granite varies like the weather. We got ours at Pental in Seattle. If it were polished it would be blacker. Nothing seems to have the greenish cast of soapstone though.
