Yes, it took us several months, but we finally added knobs and pulls. Way too many broken fingernails without them.

great before and after, why were bulkheads used?? really ugly I had them in one of my kitchens. We have come such a long way with beautiful products to pick from. Seems anything from the 70's (design ) you can spot it a mile away.

There was absolutely nothing in the previous bulkheads. What a waste of space!

What is a bulkhead in a kitchen? I thought I knew, but there are so many people criticizing, that I must think it's something else. Someone please enlighten me.

Susan: The bulkhead is the large portions that drop down from the ceiling to usually hide duct work, electrical, plumbing, etc. In this case, there was nothing concealed inside of these, so we removed them.

Wendy, that is what I thought.

To be honest, I would rather have bulkheads in my kitchen than the space between the cabinets and the ceiling. You have to dust and decorate with something, or it just looks so bare.

However, I like your idea of having lit glass cabinets in that space. Very beautiful and perfect!

While I do like the white, I do like the "before" pic too. All White is getting to common place......I like it when there is a mixture in projects shown.

Wendy, I remember your kitchen. You posted a picture of it on my dilemma. I liked it then and still do now! How has the all white been working out for you? And did you get handles/pulls? If so, what about a new picture? :) I think we posted on the same day too. lol ;)

@zazfuzzroc: The white is working out so well for us, even with 6 and 11 year olds. Cabinets clean up amazingly and the granite has so much pattern and interest, sometimes I think spots are part of the stone. It truly is a gathering place for our family. The kids want to help us cook all the time. I have to laugh at the people who have called it "hospital white" or "cold", because it is far from that! A very warm and inviting space! To answer your question, yes, knobs and pulls have been installed. I will try to upload some new pictures soon.

Oh Wendy, believe me, I don't think white is cold at all. It's refreshing and bright. :) And you guys did an amazing transformation. I think the space is glowing. Love those lights. :)
