Sofa is very glam (!!) and worth decorating around unless you hate that color. If you really like the color, then you could get an area rug which had some of that color in it, and then select chairs to tie into the rug.

If you don't want your furnishings to revolve around that color, you could still make it work by selecting other neutrals and using pillows, or perhaps art, to bring in some purple. For me, silvers and greys would look great with that sofa and would also look good with the yellow walls.

Large wide casing around windows is an architectural feature not to be covered with drapes. Remove out of scale (too small) pix from wall between windows. Replace with a tall plant (ficus) behind sofa. Plants add warmth and living energy to a space. Glass coffee table, rug to anchor space. Find pillows for sofa in varying textures in colors found in rug. Need two chairs (suggest small upholstered arm chairs). Chairs can be patterned or solid in color or colors drawn also from rug. Get the rug first as your inspiration piece and to set the color palette. Everything after that should fall into place.

A suggestion would be to use light gray sofa / seats / chairs with this. You could bring color similarity with throw cushions and flower vases in the purple.

Thanks for the initial thoughts! Wondering what colors people might suggest for rug/accent chairs/pillows? The wall is actually tan-colored; it just looks yellow in the photographs from the lighting.

Also, would people opt for a patterned rug or something more subdued and uniform? For instance, I love Kilim rugs but wasn't sure if it would be too much with already bold color.

Great sofa-hollywood glam going. Can you move sofa to face TV and fireplace. Put new chairs in front of windows with a table in between. A lamp on the table will provide the color and interest needed in that space. Grey would be a beautiful compliment to the sofa. Take a sofa pillow to a good decorator fabric store and ask them for a coordinating fabric or two. You can use for toss pillows or Fabric samples will provide inspiration and direction for the chairs. A large key pattern/geometric rug in black & white will keep more modern but find your chairs first.

Hi katetak15, love the eggplant couch! As far as design ideas and color combos that would go with that color, I suggest taking a look at one of my favorite designers that I found here on Houzz, Rachel Reider. IMO she does an incredible job with that color in her projects - see examples below.

Looks like tan/beige, brown, navy and chartreuse mix well with eggplant. I also notice that she likes to use zebra patterns and this Jonathan Adler Bargello pillow (pricey, but a good inspiration piece to find similar colors, patterns) in her projects. Hope this helps!

Love your sofa!! Colors that go well with purple/eggplant are teal, fuschia, chartreuse, and brown(with an orange undertone). This photo shows a more neutral approach if you don't want a lot of color.
