Mixing granite and quartz counters in kitchen?

I recently had granite countertops installed in my kitchen. The problem is that the granite on my outer cabinets is perfect but the granite on the island has large black specs and looks completely different from the granite on the outer cabinets. That's what I get for only looking at 1 slab when I needed 2 slabs for the kitchen. If I saw the second slab, I'm sure I would have chosen something different. My question is if you think it would look good if I use a solid coloured quartz on the island. That's the only thing I can think of to fix this? Here are photos of my kitchen. I have cloud white outer cabinets and a black island. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I think the counters look fine as they are. I do not see a difference in the pattern and I don't think your friends would either.

Industry standard is to use consecutive slabs (also called book-matched). So the first & second slabs should be opposites of each other, components in first slab are in second slab. Did they discuss this with you? If not, did you go back & question this? The other industry standard is layouts, where they discuss where each piece will be cut from the slabs.

I think you could use a black or dark gray quartz for the island, if you really dislike it.

Yes, quartz would work fine on the island. Look for a color in the slab and match in the quartz to tie them together.

Can you tell me the name of this granite color? I love it! I think a white or grey quartz top would look great on the island!

I think quartz on the island will look great- a bit of contrast and interest instead of all match matchy.

Hi---yes, you can mix them. Find a quartz close in color to the gray glass backsplash, or the taupe hue in the granite. Nothing too dark-you want to maintain a contrast between the countertop and the dark cabinetry. Space is very nice! Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

What did you end up doing?

I don't see why you would need to change it- it looks great and I hate to see so much waste over a perfectly beautiful piece of garnite which is a natural product that has variation.

Honestly I think your island looks fine. I don't think it needs to be changed.

Im in a similar boat. My problem is that they don't have any of the material that the previous owner used, and my island had been left with an ugly butcher block top. I want to put a piece of quart on it and the adjacent bar counters. My granite guy says no - me and decorator say yes. What to do...what to do???

What if the cabinets were wood toned and the island was the creamy white? Would you use a white quartz to lighten the room? I have a similar issue with granite that cannot be identically matched, but it has a creamy white color in it. In fact it is called White Spring.

I have this exact issue and even the same granite! I am changing out the island to quartz after hating it for 5 years!
