Im an interior designer with 25 years experience with wool and nylon rugs and I can tell you to listen to your designer not your carpet cleaner and here is why: Wool fibers are coated with lanolin and will shed stains naturally. To clean, vacumn, vacumn, vacumn. If you get a stain on it, just pour a little ice cold water on it, let it stand a minute or so and blot dry. It will come right out. If it doesn't, do it again and it will. DON"T use cleaners or shampoos on it as that will strip the protective lanolin off of it and it will get dirty faster. Nylons just never clean up as well. They look older faster and you cannot get food stains out. I even got cherry koolaid out of white wool berber at a client's party! All carpet cleaners know is what they do for a living. Trust your designer. They deal with all types of fibers in every type of situation and can guide you toward not making a mistake out of fear of the unknown.
