My question would be what do you like, a more monochromatic look, or a bold pop? I've seen kitchens on houzz with that type backsplash and they are very cool. But it would have to be the look you want??? I think the colors look pretty together. Most on here say to go neutral for resale. Is that a concern? Or are you trying to be happy with your space regardless of resale? I've recently taken advice on here to paint my room a neutral, well I'm not totally in love with it. I'm trying. So, my thoughts.... just be certain you do what makes you happy. I think your choices work well together. Good luck and sorry if that's long and not much help. :)

Great comments. I really like the mirror tiles in the attached photo as well. They look antiqued??...but a lot of mirror. The painted glass would have a reflection, but not solid mirror. Decisions!!!

If I don't go with the colored back painted glass, I am sure I will always wish I did -- if I DO go with it, I may wish in a couple of years that I didn't!!!!

Maybe this year it is!! It seems to be a trend in the back painted glass right now...but also, it is a soothing, warmer blue and I think I could do it and still accent with different colors -- orange, green, white...any of them work. Imagine the blue backsplash and a great bouquet of white and lime green flowers -- vavoom! ...but will I really do it in the end?!!!??

I've done many kitchens in back painted glass - I don't think it's trendy at all. As a matter of fact it is the best type of back splash to go with -- no grout lines, easy to clean and a simple look which will never be dated. (Like subway tile?!!) ugh. If you like the blue, then go with it! My back painted back splash is orange and I get tons of compliments on it.
Another idea would be to paint it with a metallic paint - it looks really rich and gives off a nice sheen - not shiny like metal, but muted and soft.

Do you have a photo of your backsplash? Orange is one of my favorite colors. Interesting idea to do the metallic paint. Our glass installer uses a semi-gloss. For a blue choice, do you like the lighter or darker aqua sample in my photo?...or would you suggest a different tone of aqua?

My vote goes to the aqua backsplash (I prefer the lighter one of the samples)

Thank you to everyone for the great input. I have really struggled on this decision. It is a larger area and not easy or economical to change...so I have to like it for a decently long time!

I would suggest a deeper color to go with the wood. Attached is a gorgeous aqua color by Benjamin Moore (don't know the name - sorry). If you like the metallic paint - look at car paint for color ideas. I only have a paper photo of my kitchen but it looks a lot like this one.

I agree a deeper shade will look great. The splash of color looks amazing and I have seen the backcoated glass in blues and they look amazing!

Go neutral. There are some stunning glass subway tiles in neutral. Aqua locks you in to a color palette. Add color with accessories.

I was over to the new house we are building -- the medium brown stained birch hardwood is just about all installed -- everything is looking brown, beige, grey, brown, beige! I think the aqua back-painted glass is winning the vote! To marilynellis -- I agree totally -- neutral is safe and I can add accent with accessories -- but I think I am going to close my eyes and go with the WOW. To Ward Designs -- thank you for the 'blobs' of Benjamin Moore colors -- I am pretty sure that the color on the left is one of my choices of 'blue lake' #2053-40 Benjamin Moore. I looked at all of their samples and it matches well. Bolder for sure. And...I love the orange kitchen you posted! To zazfuzzroc -- stay tuned -- I am going to post a finished photo -- it could be 3 - 4 wks away yet -- I hope I go with the aqua that was posted by Ward Designs!!! If you have any other suggestions, please let me know! Thanks to all of you for helping me along with this BIG decision!!!

Hoping for a great result. And, then when I choose the color, it may vary a bit because of the green tempered glass. Lots of "iffies"!! I think my choice of the glass company is good though, so I will put my trust in him! Thanks so much!

It's difficult to tell the true color of a sample - especially on the internet. I can't stress enough the importance of testing your colors by getting a sample jar of the paint color(s) you've decided on and paint a sample boards or the wall (as it will be covered) to make absolutely certain you've chosen the right color. Colors vary from wall to wall, room to room and can change drastically in natural light vs. electrical lighting.

The color sample I saw in your pic looked a lot lighter and bluer than my samples - but you never know -- true color is tough on a computer. Please test them out.

For sure, I will. I really like the colors you suggested to me -- do you think the depth of the color on the left is good?...and will look good in my earth toned kitchen? Do you think that going too light of a color will not give it the punch it needs? I will paint a piece of the glass prior to going ahead with it.

I am re-thinking -- really DO love your orange back splash. It might be the way to go....to have a burnt orange. I have consulted another designer as well and she suggested the orange, hands down.

LOL You need a fairly deep color for punch. And yes it is mind-bending trying to select the right color.

What is the name and brand of the orange color you chose? I picked up a lot of different orange colors tonight -- but the photo you sent was pretty awesome. thanks.

It's a Behr paint called Cayenne.

By the way - I did this about 6 years ago so they may not carry that color anymore - I don't know, I don't have a recent paint deck. (Get matte paint, the color is richer).
