Behr, and maybe others, make a paint and primer all in one. I've never used it though. Red is one of the hardest colors to cover. Good luck.

You can always have the primer tinted with the new wall colour. But I have to warn you that you might need three coats to cover the red (and you will certainly need more than one).

I've done a lot of professional painting. All in one primer is a gimmick. When I had my house (new construction) painted the builder didn't use primer. I called Sherwin Williams and they swore I didn't need primer with their paint. Now I have alligatoring and cracking and uneven paint. If you talk to professional painters all will suggest a primer especially with a color like red. Plus, over the years grease and grime have built up on the paint. You want to lightly sand the old paint and prime. It will save you money in the long run and you will get a smoother and better looking finish.

A primer is a necessity when covering red in fact when I paint over red i do 2 coats of primer and at least 2 coats of paint.
