I'm interested in coming up with a soil mix for some container vegetable gardening. I'm fairly frustrated with gardening in the ground, the pests keep winning. They are crafty suckers.

In containers, I have virtually no pest problems. I ended up getting far more vegetables out of small containers than I did in my entire .15 acre garden because of my pest issues.

What is your favorite good homemade soil mix? Of course I do well with Black Gold but I'm looking to make larger amounts and I'd like it to be cost effective.
