Thanks Becky! It feels a little bare or unfinished right now. I am not sure what to add to it! I would love recessed panel molding but my budget/DIY skills are not allowing for that!

The view of the front door is the part I am struggling with. It looks bare but the area is too small to put anything beside it.

Perhaps a small table on the right side wall next to the door with some type of accent piece, flowers, or small vase? You may also consider changing the ceiling light fixture as it seems the room is overpowering it. You have a beautiful, large front entrance. A larger, more majestic light fixture may bring out the beauty even more. Absolutely gorgeous home I must say. Great job. I'm jealous.

I agree with changing out the light fixture. You need to add something with more interest. I would also change the rug to something more exciting. You can go to "Home decoraters" online catalog and order a zebra print or something that will be fun, yet hide the dirt.

Fantastic idea with the rug and the new light fixture! I am somewhat hesitant to put something beside the door because there is less room than it looks on the picture. Although a vase may look fabulous! Thanks for the ideas? Any suggestions for light fixures?

If you don't have room for a table, perhaps a shelf to the right of the door in that corner. I'll take this on as an Ideabook 911 next week - I have a bunch of great light fixtures I've seen around houzz in mind ;)

try mouldings or shutters on either side of the door......think out of the box....front door is rather bland and needs to make a statement......

I agree with the larger scale light fixture and I would choose it in a dark brown or black metal finish. I would replace the current rug with one that has a traditional or formal print on a black or espresso background and center it in the entry instead of pushing it up against the door. ALso replace the hallway light to complement the new foyer light fixture. The whole space needs more contrast (light with dark) so the dark rug and light fixture would help accomplish that. Ditto on dark framed artwork which I see you did on the shelf in the hall but maybe the shelf should be dark as well.

The darker items would also tie in the nice brown and black stripes on the stairway rug:)

Try a round rug since your banister has a round end to it and keep it small enough to appreciate the nice flooring.
