I don't think it will hold up to foot traffic. Though it grows fast it never seems to dominate grassy weeds in my yard. It's tasty and full of nutrients - I always leave some of it growing, I would rather eat a handful of it than choke down fish oil capsules.

It definitely won't hold up to foot traffic. Unlike the weed purslane, these larger flowered cultivars break easily.
It doesn't make a mat forming root structure to choke out anything so it makes a nice interplant among early flowering perennials.

Thanks! I was actually thinking more of in boxes, but I had considered having it in my lawn (so thanks for pointing that out). It is great to know that it will not choke things out! I LOVE this thing! It grows so fast, blooms quickly, and is YELLOW! All good traits for me. I am VERY excited about the idea that it will not choke out other plants!!!! Good idea on putting it with the early perennials. Do you know how shade tolerant it is? It is doing wonderfully in this insane heat.

As long as the sun it gets is the most intense part of the day (late afternoon) it will tolerate bright light in an airy position for the rest of the day.
Maximum growth and bloom come from full sun location.
