Basil Disaster :(

Ok, I have to vent somewhere & it might as well be here. We had some slightly wicked storms come through the middle TN area yesterday. I specifically asked my wife to keep an eye on things & if it got windy, to take my plants that are on the rail off & put them on the porch until the storm subsided enough to where it was safe. I can't really blame her (even if I want to...) cuz she did keep an eye on the plants (and our two little munchkins at the same time). My Basil was on the far end of the porch rail where she couldn't see it well or at all though. :-\ So, when I got home about 8:30, I went to check my plants as I usually do & my previously beautiful Basil plant was missing...I looked & looked and could not find it. So, I went outside to look in the bushes (i'm on 2nd floor) & there it was lying sideways covered in mulch and other crap. About a third of it broke off ( :-( ) & some of the remaining parts were "bent." I cleaned it up as best as I could (will do more later) and gave it my best sunny spot. I'm hoping the bent leaves/stems will bend back somewhat. I've placed it in a strategic position where they would need to bend back to get more sun. I'm just quite upset over the whole thing as that was my best looking plant. I'm sure the part that broke off will allow for more new growth, but it still irks me.
