Hi Bob - since they are still so small and it is early in the season is there any chance it is BER (blossom end rot) rather than splitting? Any discoloration of the area? Softening to touch?

Reason I ask is that splitting, resulting from inconsistent moisture levels, usually comes later in the season in my experience while this time of year is common for BER.

It doesn't appear to be BER. There is no discoloration or softening. The cracks are at the blossom end but, the cracks appear deep and along the ridges of the small lobes. My guess is either watering or over fertilization. I have mulched the area around all of my tomotoes to keep the moisture in but it has been very dry in Memphis for the past few weeks.

I'll try to take some pics this weekend and post them if needed. Just want to make adjustments now if possible to avoid major problems later.

It could be catfacing if they are that small. How are the nite temps and windy at all?
