Warning: Avoid ATG Stores (+ their 500 online storefronts)

If you're in the market for home products, save yourself some headaches and avoid shopping at any of the ATG Stores websites. The one I shopped at was called Knobs and Hardware, which came up (with a good price)when I did a Google search for my item. You'll know it's an ATG Stores site if you look at the top of the screen and see the ATG Stores logo in the upper left corner (until they decide to change their name now that they've been found out by so many).

Here's how they operate. When I submitted my order, the item was marked "in stock". Three days later they e-mailed me saying it was on backorder. I called immediately to cancel and they gave me a hassle. They also mentioned that they'd charged my charge card for the item when I placed the order. If you check out the fine print on their return policy page, you'll see that they absolutely negate their hyped claim of "No Hassle Returns".

If you want more info on their practices, check the Gardenweb kitchen forum, sitejabber.com, and resellerratings.com. Shame on them.

I hate that you've had a bad time with them. I have actually recommended them on GW but I've had nothing but good luck with them.

    Hi Verdegirl,

My name is Taryn Wusterbarth and I am in charge of Public Relations with ATGStores.com. I read your review and am reaching out to you to apologize for your negative experience with us. I also wanted to offer my help so that we can get this situation resolved as quickly as possible in regard to your canceled order request and money refunded to your credit card. I will need a little bit of information from you so that we are able to look up your order account history and take the next step moving forward toward getting this fixed. I will need your name as it appears on the order, the item in which you were interested in and the date that you placed the order if possible. You may contact me directly with this information and/ or any other questions you may have at pr@atgstores.com. Thank you for your cooperation, we hope to hear from you soon.

    Verdegirl,

I appreciate your honesty and response. Again I offer many apologies. Thanks for your time!

I think I may have used them and it took time for them to ship which they did and they blamed Michael Aram who was the designer of the knobs. I did finally get my product quickly but only after I threatened to get the credit card company involved. The price was good and the product reliable and shipped with no mistakes. I live in an area that is expensive to shop for same. I'm just glad I don't need to make any more decisions regarding that.

    WARNING

Do not order through ATG Stores, a subsidiary of Lowe's. They merely act as a 3rd party vendor of other companies' products. If you need to return a product, the process is beyond convoluted, expensive, and designed to make you give up and keep the product. In sum, ATG is a shyster in my opinion.

same type of biz as wayfair.com, which I will never order from again having been told the tile I wanted was in stock only to order it and told none in stock even though it was listed as in stock (twice listed in stock, but not really).

thank you for the info. I personally am an overstock.com fan. Never had a problem with them. Once a desk top came in damaged and they remedied it immediately.

I have used ATG several times and had no issues. I ordered a Duravit sink and Outdoor lighting fixtures from them.

All the websites, act as subsidiary of the manufacturers. I am often frustrated by this because everything is drop shipped from the manufacturer. I guess it is the new normal because even at brick and mortar stores, everything has to be drop shipped from the manufacturer.

I have not had cause to return anything I purchased from ATG though. In terms of returns, I recently had a good experience with a warranty return with Adorama and Chief Manufacturing.

If you have not already done this, contact your credit card company and have them deal with this nonsense.

    Good luck!

They have an ebay store which they state they have "More than 10" of an item. ATG Store Item #12174095, Ebay Item number #231725804756. It's a salt and pepper grinder set by Modernhome. This is a standard cheap chinese made set that is available at 20+ other stores on Ebay and the web. They sent me an email stating that it's backordered. I called them, and it's backordered until Feb. I tried to reach them 2 times via Ebay resolution center, called them, and live chat. They still have not cancelled my order and refunded my money. They take people's money for stuff they don't stock, and then make it VERY hard to cancel the order and get a refund.

If you have been charged for something you did not receive, just call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

I have to agree with any negative comments. I found what I thought was a deal on cabinet hardware on website where they were a "marketplace seller" (I believe they've been thrown off that website). Everything was CLEARLY listed in lots of 10. I ordered maybe 10 lots of 10. I received one of each item only, basically 10 percent of my order. I sent messages several times. I finally got a response over 2 weeks later. Oops, sorry that was wrong. They'll send a label to return. I pointed out that they should fulfill my orders since it was not my mistake but I've yet to hear back from that message.

I also bought a mortised doorknob a couple of years ago directly from their website. It started coming apart in a matter of weeks.

6 YEARS LATER AND ATG STORES IS UP TO THE SAME TRICKS. I just ordered a laundry hamper through their store on Jan. 27. On Feb. 3, I checked on my order which said it was "still being processed." On Feb. 8, my order NO LONGER EXISTED. When I called their customer service, the gentleman on the phone said they had sent me an email on Jan. 30 (similar to that 3 day window you mentioned!). I checked my email and there was NO EMAIL SENT. (I checked all spam/junk/promo). He said they were back-ordered for THREE MONTHS. I told them that was unacceptable and that I wanted my money back. (at least that went smoothly). But now today I get an email that says I canceled the order? WRONG. YOU DID NOT HAVE ITEM AVAILABLE. What's sad is that item is still being shown as available to purchase on their website, so some other sucker can go fall for the same trap. If I hadn't called... I would still be waiting... yet without an order number to back me up... and maybe not receiving my item until APRIL (if ever)! When I tried to post about it on their Facebook page, my post did not go up... so, when people visit their social media, they can't see the sh*tty experience others are having... tricky, tricky ATG Stores... Tricky, TRICKY! Shame on you for your deceptive practices!

If anyone see a popup with beautiful clothing call SWANKMYWAY - PLEASE DO NOT ORDER. They are a Chinese clothing company that are steeling for innocent online shoppers. They are affiliated with PayPal, but they are NOT legitimate. When you purchase their clothing - everything is supper small and horribly made (sashes are stiched on backwards and the like. Returning these ill-fitting pieces costs hundreds of dollars to return - without any way to recover your cost for returning items.

Lowe's bought them in 2012 and their name was changed to The Mine.

Glad I read this, I was just googling ATG stores and found this article
