Whirlpool Cabrio

Does anyone know what color the new cabrios will be available in, I've seen the white with grey color doors, but are any other colors available?

I've seen pictures of an all black Cabrio. Everthing was black, the lid, the rear control console, and the cabinet, excepting of course the glass part of the lid.

It looked like something that Darth Vader would wash his clothes in. Not that this is a bad thing thing. The unit actually looked quite elegant.

I saw these in HHGregg yesterday (north of Atlanta). It was all white and had no glass lid, although they said they had ones with glass lids in the back.

White Washer (no glass): WTW6400SW for $899
    White Dryer: WED6200SW for $599

4.5 cu ft. is impressive when you look inside. The dryer was 7.0 cu. ft.

Any idea if the Cabrio will be offered with an agitator like the Oasis?

From what I remember, it has the same agitator.

Bought the black set today with glass on both the washer and dryer.

Glass retails for $100 extra, however the black color was no extra charge. WTW6600S for the washer and WE/GD6400S for the dryer.

In addition to the glass, these models also feature more wash cycles (11 vs. 10), delay wash option (10 hours), Ultra Quiet Wash Plus (vs. no plus), and 1000 RPMs vs 950. The dryer has a longer wrinkle shield (90 vs 60 min), Auto/on/off interior light, Ultra quiet dry vs. quiet dry and of course, a window.

Colors range from white/white with no glass, white/silver with glass, biscuit/gold metallic with glass and black/black with glass.

Does the Cabrio dryer have a hamper door?

That sounds really cheap for the dryer, does it have the dual motor?

No hamper door. No idea about the dual motor feature.

Oh, and I got black with glass for the same price as quoted above for white with no glass.

Is there any word on whether Costco will be carrying these, and if so, when?

Followup: is there any reason to prefer these to the Oasis apart from not wanting to deal with Sears? How about the other way (Oasis better in any way?).

From what we know now and what we have observed about the models between Kenmore and Whirlpool is that the Kenmore models usually have more options than their counterparts. For example, the HE4t washer, compared do the Duet HT, has the SkinCare rinse, Stain Treat, Save Energy Plus, Extended Spin, and a load of other options unique to the HE4t. This is also seen in their dishwashers, with the Kenmore models having the Turbozone II option, which on the Whirlpool side can only be seen on the high end KitchenAid models under the name "ProScrub", which is the first generation TurboZone. However, the TurboZone feature will appear in Whirlpools' next-gen of dishwashers, under the PowerScour title. There are some differences in their dryers, such as the heated dry rack found only in most high end Kenmore models, but not in the Whirlpool models. This is why the Oasis dryer has the lint filter in the front, to accomodate the heated dry rack, and the Whirlpool Cabrio has the lint filter on the top, with a standard dry rack. I hope this sheds some light on your question herus!

Okay, guys I am down to the wire for a washer and dryer, now! In the house, but not moved in, it's between the Oasis and the Cabrio,,,,sure wish I knew which to do, they seem very similar to me, altho, I'm pretty much going by what I've read from you guys here on the board about them! Have F&P with TL dryer at the ranch and LOVE the heck out of them, but the dryer won't work at the house in Houston because of how it is vented (I think it wouldn't, anyway)...so keep posting, how long is the 20% deal at Sears lasting??? That sure would help on the price, for sure! I don't think the Cabrio has the tinted glass lid, it's just clear, right? I like tinted better, for me, if I opt to go with the lid. Don't like the top lint thing on the Cabrio dryer, either, is the Oasis located on top? Just a personal thing, but on top goes everywhere IMO when cleaning it...thanks for all the input, you guys are so very helpful, but I've got to make my mind up FAST!!! Have a happy 4th...too!!!

The Oasis dryer lint trap is under the door and easy to clean. The washer model with the lid also has a few other features the others don't (more sound insulation and spin speed options). I've been extremely happy with both my washer and dryer. They're huge and work quickly and clean/dry well.

Thanks for the input mbrush! Wonder if the sale is on for a few days or about over, guess I'll google and find out! I sure like that lint trap being under the door versus sitting on top, for my needs, anyway! Thanks again...

I think the feature differences between the Cabrio and the Oasis are quite small. What is different however is the styling. I think the Kenmore and Whirlpool brands are marketed to different consumer segments and styling is matched accordingly.

What this means is that your best choice is probably the one with the styling that you find most appealing, and fits better with the decor in your home.

The Kenmore has lots of rounded corners with straight paralell edges, whereas the Whirlpool has sharper corners, and all of the edges are curved.

I personally like the Oasis colors better than the Cabrio colors. The Oasis black diamond set and the Oasis pacific blue set are both very sharp looking but then again, we're talking about personal preference which, as everyone knows, is very fickle.

Seems that the Oasis are a little nicer machine. The fact that the Cabrio dryer does not have the dual motor, I would not even consider it. The dual motor Oasis dryer is so fast, it's well worth it.

Why are there so many Oasis choices when you go onto the Sears website? I have no idea which to even purchase, I realize one difference is one has glass doors and the other does not, but what else is there between the models that set them apart? I also am reading some of you talk about a dual motor on the Oasis dryer? So there is a model that has dual and one that does not, I take it? Sorry to appear so dumb, but goodness it's kind of overwhelming when trying to decide which to actually purchase! Thanks for any input, it is very much appreciated!

The location of the lint filter would be the deciding factor for me. I detest a lint filter on top of the dryer, when you pull it out it gets fuzz all over the place. From what I've read here, it seems to me the features on the Oasis machines are better than the Cabrio.

Looks like the Kenmore 20% off sale ends July 4th. There are many exclusions, see the website for "details."

When I bought my set in May, I too was very confused by the various Oasis washer models available on the Sears website. Even after shopping in the store, I couldn't understand why there were two versions of the model with the lid, two versions of the model without the lid and even a similar model that has the agitator but isn't a high efficiency model. Even the salespeople couldn't explain the differences in model numbers between two similar washers. Initially, I thought the price difference was for color versus white, but that is not the case. One model number was always $50 more. Finally, I found the distinction on the price display at the store. The more expensive model has a longer "delay wash" option. In regions where electricity is cheaper in off-peak hours, delaying the wash can save money.

On the website, you can check models that you want to compare and it'll highlight the differences between the two. Right now, there is a $100 difference between the models and it shows that one has a handwash option, so they may have tweaked some things on the new models.

Good luck and hope this helps explain a few things. I've been very happy with mine.

There are 2 model numbers for each, except for the colors. We refer to them as sister models. In the case of the Oasis, there is the handwash on one of the "sister models". When one is on sale, the other is not. We will substitute one for the other, if one is available sooner. Having two model numbers for the same item is to get past some kind of legal crap of how often something can be at the same price or something. In reality there are only 2 Oasis HE models, the one with the solid top, and the one with the glass top. The top end dryer (67092) has two motors. One turns the drum, and one is the (35% larger) blower motor. Having a seperate blower motor allows it to adapt it's intensity to the load based on a bunch of factors. I have a long run of venting, and it had made a remarkable difference over my last dryer, and that was a 10 month old Whirlpool Senseon (very nice dryer). The dual motor is well worth the extra $100.

I just saw a Cabrio at Lowe's last night. I don't get whats so great about it other than the glass doors, all digital controls and its energy star rated. the one I saw had full size agitator like a normal TL but thine simular to the F&P washer that was next to it for the same price. what makes this machine so nice or better than the F&P other looks

I think the machine that's catching everyone's eye is the HE impeller version of Oasis, as opposed to the agitator version, and as far as the F&P is concerned, the Oasis wash tub is considerably bigger. The F&P claims something around 3.7 cubic feet, whereas the Oasis is advertising 4.5 cubic feet.

Also, the F&P top & lid are made from plastic, whereas the Oasis top is porcelain coated. This makes a considerable difference in how the washer is going to look after a few years of use.

My fiancee and I have been looking at both the Whirlpool Cabrio and the Kenmore Oasis. We have no children and it's just the 2 of us. We like the idea of being able to wash our king sized comforter without going to the laundromat. Can anyone suggest either brands over the other? Is there another brand that is better??

I'd say between the 2, Oasis is the better choice. Just the dryer (dual motor) alone is worth going Oasis, it drys unbelievably fast. By far the best dryer out there. As far as the washers, I don't know the specific differences between the 2, although generally you get a little more for the money with Kenmore over the similar model with the Whirlpool name.

You don't know the specific differences? Don't you work at Sears? You should know this.

We don't carry the Cabrio, and I have not been able to find good info about it. Until I get to Lowes to see one, NO, I don't know the specific differences. I DO know the Kenmore is better, once I see a Cabrio, I'll know the specific differences.

If Lowes sold the Oasis, I'd have one in my home right now. I don't like the looks of the Cabrio or that lint thing on the top. It's ... ugly to me compared to the Oasis, and would be right near our kitchen totally visible. It's ludicrous for Sears to charge $450 for it's 5 yr warr for the 2 items while Lowes charges $199. I would never pay 25% of the cost of the machines in ext warr nor would I buy these machines without a warranty.

Total catch 22. We need a TL due to room size constrictions and should really buy the F&P but probably won't. In the end, the canyon size Cabrio would work better for us and the porcelain top would wear better from what it looks like. I just don't know what to do.

Save energy plus is an option offer on the oasis and not on the cabrio will be my best guess, much like HE4T has save energy plus option and Duet does not, as with stain treat option is Kenmore exclusive and not offered on the Duets (nor Cabrio is my guess).

Another typical difference between Kenmore and Whirlpool is that Kenmore spins slightly faster.

Also Whirlpool does not offer quiet pak 9 insulation where as Kenmore does.

"It's ludicrous for Sears to charge $450 for it's 5 yr warr for the 2 items"

Actually for a 5 year protection agreement it's $309 for the washer and $279 for the dryer. That's $588 minus 10% for buying 2 protection agreements, so your total for 5 years on both is $530 not $450.

We purchased a Cabrio 6200 washer in October. I am very pleased with it. I didn't get the glass lid as we are military and move often. My old dryer is still working, so we didn't purchase the Cabrio dryer.

I was searching for a top loading dryer that had the features I wanted at a reasonable price. I wanted a large capacity, delecate/hand wash cycle, and energy efficency. I am pleased with the performance of this washing machine. It handles the size of the loads I do (5 people in our family) and it runs quietly. Not sure if this helps anyone or not, but I thought I could share my opinion of the Cabrio washer as a satisfied owner.

We just purchased the Cabrio set and I'm concerned it's not cleaning that well. The first load I did was on Casual (Perm Press) and the cloths that started on the top never cycled through the water. Then I did pillows and the side facing the top of the washer never cycled through water either. Anyone else notice this?

I agree with the poster above about the extremely high prices of Sears warranties. I bought my Cabrio from my local Bray & Scarff store and paid $139 for a 5 year warrantly that is repair or replace (4 repairs in one year for different or the same things). So far, I have gotten great service from them because I started out with a Harmony that leaked, which was promptly replaced in two days with a new Harmony that also leaked (different place) which was promptly replaced with a Cabrio. Cabrio is working great, ads23 I do not have the issue you are having. I'd ask for a replacement machine.

I have the Cabrio 6200 with the agitor....I know the manaual says that this washer makes noises that others don't, but I am wondering if the noise that i hear during the wash cycle is normal or not. Does anyone else hear a noise (kind of like a low squeeking sound) as the drum moves back and forth to wash the load? It was just delivered and I've only used it 4 times.... It's a noise that is hard to describe but it sounds like a duck quacking off in the distance...lol (that's the only thing I can compare it to) Thanks

It's easy to be sensitive to stranges sounds when you spend a lot of money on an expensive new washer, but if Whirlpool took the time to put a warning in the user manual that the washer sounds different from regular washers, it's likely that they anticipated new users have these types of concerns.

If the noise isn't loud, and it doesn't get louder after a few cycles, I'd bet that it's probably okay.

Thanks.... after watching the posted videos on 'youtube', I could hear that the Cabrio machines in those videos made the same noise during the wash cycle as mine. It's not very loud, just different from what I'm used to. I was relieved to see that nothing was wrong with my new washer. :)

I'm biting the bullet tomorrow and buying the Cabrio at Lowes. I like the Oasis a little better, but couldn't see paying so much money for the extended warranty. I also liked that lowes gives you 90 days to return if you don't like it. I hope I'm happy. Can't wait to do big loads. I've had quite a time making a decision.
