First quiltlet project done

Finished my first Xmas gift, a quilt-let that will go to a friend whose name I drew at a quilt gathering. Seems strange to make a quilt for a quilter. Anyway, this gave me a chance to practice the piping binding and worked out well. Don't you just love that block, Jennifer?

Very pretty! Is that a Carol Doak block? That's a lot of quilting for a 12" quilt...I usually just stitch in the ditch or diagonally on a quilt that small. :)

    Stunning!

OK, what's a quiltlet? Is it just another new term for a miniature?? Sorry to be dumb but this dummy wants to know. And BTW it's stunning!

It's my scientific term for a quilt that is small but not a miniature. Miniatures have little tiny pieces making up small quilt blocks. This is just something small made from one block or a small wallhanging. It's much faster and easier in my book! I have many blocks around here that I call "samples" but now my goal is to do something with them that makes me practice. If our guild has a show category called "ugliest sampler quilt", I could win that hands down!

    Linda,
It's a beauty, just love it!
You gave me a great idea to move along those sample blocks and practice FMQ at the same time.

I love it! I was looking at the picture before I read the description, and thought "I have that fabric!! Oh, and I recognize that block!" then I thought, "Wait! That's a Carol Doak pattern!" and then I remembered. LOL [I did this as a paper piecing tutorial one year at retreat.]

Did I give you the block, or did I give you a kit? I can't remember that.

It turned out great, and of course, your beading adds a terrific touch! Even a quilter would love to have that!

That is gorgeous!! Everything about it is perfect, and the beading adds so much.

    Love, love, love it!

Jennifer - that block was in the bag of scraps you threw on the give-away table at retreat. Love Carol Doak's pattern. You should post what you did with all the other blocks that match it.

I don't think there were any other blocks... I think this was just a sample used for demonstration.

Glad it got a good home. It looks lovely!

I love all of it, the quilting, beading, and the piping binding!!

That's a lovely block. And the beading takes it up a notch and makes it unique.
