Weird Bathroom

The kid found herself a new place to live. It's an older apartment building but it's quiet, clean, and in a good neighborhood. The problem is in the bathroom. Standing at the sink, to the left is the toilet, and then the ONLY receptacle. Besides cords draping over the toilet, the mirror is sufficiently distant from the receptacle to make it hard to see when drying, curling, and whatever young girls do to make themselves attractive in the morning. Obviously adding a new receptacle isn't an option (and one the owner is unlikely to pay for). So I'm looking for some suggestions to get power a little closer to the countertop.

What I'm thinking is to replace receptacle with a GFI (it's not GFI now) and then mounting one of those power strips to the side of the vanity, running the cord behind the toilet along the baseboard.

Any problems with that plan?
