How to tie several rooms together.
Comments (36)New home...a townhome in N Carolina and I am stumped with the windows in the living room. The highest windows are the challenge to me. The window and the door are not the same size. Should I use blinds on the small Windows? The room is pretty small so should I forget the blinds and keep it clean? The walls are "boring" beige but at this time I do not want to paint. Would sheers or semi sheers possibly work if they are not closed on lower window...See MoreHelp me pull my dining room together
Comments (78)Hi Ann! My chairs were actually a steal from Costco believe it or not! We figured that at the price we paid, we can always change them in a few years if need be. :-) Which light did you end up going with for your dining room? Given the pattern in the rug, I think a graphic design (wallpaper/stencil) may be out of the question for the walls. I was thinking of doing the back wall in drapery all across given the awkward size of the windows. Perhaps I can do the walls in a texture wallpaper instead of something graphic? Or maybe some sort of molding? Thoughts? I would love to do crown molding eventually down the line as well....See More3 way switch wiring in 2 gang box

Comments (15)My house originally had very dark trim from the 70's - cheap pine so I had no worry about painting it. At that time we put in new cabinets - oak - which is not "in" right now but good cabinets and I like them:) I really like the white trim with wood. It gives the brightness of the white - especially the light coming through the window, but keeps the warmth of wood. A carpenter can remove the panel from the cabinet - he can router it out and then it can be replaced again if you ever want to. A glass place can put the glass in for you. I did this to a cabinet and it was about $40 - but I just used plain glass for a simple decorative cabinet I refinished for the bathroom. I think hardware would look great. Look at lots of pictures - don't go too modern because your cabinets are not, but there are lots of options Picture of wood cabinets with white trim: (I used a similar hardware in this pic in oil rubbed bronze on dark oak cabinets I refinished for a kitchenette in my basement - it is a rather rustic look on my cabinets though):...See MoreMikedpga
