Ugly Yellowy Granite!

My husband and I are building our first home and are in the process of making all the selections. We had a beautiful Santa Cecilia granite picked out for our countertops that we loved because of its white color and the blacks, grays, and browns mixed in. I am planning to go with a gray color for our walls and will have white kitchen cabinets with a white subway tile backsplash. The look I am going for in the kitchen is classic and bright. The problem is that we got stuck with a terrible specimen of the beautiful Santa Cecilia that has a more yellow/gold base and absolutely no white! Obviously, we cannot change the granite color and the subway tile has just gone in. How can I downplay the yellow/gold in the granite more? Should I go through with painting the cabinets white, or should I go with a wood stain? They are a beautiful red oak. My thought was to try and bring out the grays in the granite as much as possible to dial down the gold. Am I even on the right track!? Please help!
