Newly resurfaced kitchen

I recently updated my kitchen, we refinished the hardwood floors, new paint on walls, new window coverings and new paint and glaze on kitchen cabinets

not a fan of either versions, but the before pictures give the feeling that people live, cook and enjoy time there, the after pictures are cold and i wouldn't feel cosy there.

Cabs look Fabulous! Not crazy about the wall color though-at least not with the window coverings... One of the two should be lighter... Really nice job on the cabs... CheerS!

Love the cabinets, especially the top ones, and the white cabinets look really good with the black counter tops.

Can you tell me what colours you used, it really is beautiful, the old was ok but was getting a little dated.

Cabinet color choice leaves me cold and wishing for the old kitchen

Replacing the curtains with the shades was a big improvement too. I really dislike curtains in a kitchen---any kitchen. Nice job overall.

Great job. I like the use of different cabinet colors. Did you have to remove the cabinets and send them out, or were they painted on site? Do you need someone specialized in painting kitchen cabinets? I'm considering something similar.

@ wanttodecorate -the counter tops are granite called Seaweed (they were put in about 12 years ago)
@2bogey06 - the colors were custom made by my cabinet maker but both the creme and sage have a coffee glaze on them
  • 11 years ago
@minervasolutions- all the cabinet doors and drawers were removed and sprayed at the painters workshop. The cabinet boxes and crown molding were all primed, painted and glazed on site (Rob was extremely neat, there was no mess and I had access to my kitchen every night). I would definitely suggest using a professional cabinet painter rather than just a painter. He also applied a very strong, durable clear-coat.

What kind of paint did they use?

    beautiful update!

Sometimes a homeowner just needs a change, and I think the painted cabinets are a great way to update for less cost than brand new cabinets. Nice job!

Gosh; I had to look at this twice to ensure I was seeing the 'before' and 'after' in the right order. The first picture (before painted cabinets) looks so stunning and really looks so much more updated and modern to me. The painted cabinets look somehow old-fashioned, but that's just me. The different colors, too, I find a little unsettling, but good for you. If you like it, that's all that really matters. :)

I love the cabinet colors (personally, I would have used the green below and the cream above, but that's just me). LOVE the beadboard!

I do like what you did. My only input is to remove the stuff above the windows
  • 11 years ago
I like your kitchen the only thing you have to much things in the counters looks very busy and it takes away the prettiness of your kitchen this is my opinion
  • 11 years ago
I also like your blinds well matched
