The big sun shade above the sitting area. It is currently old and bad looking.

You could look into putting in a vegetated roof over your patio. It would provide an aesthetic element and help with temperature control!

these are usually triangular shaped sun shades supported by poles that work really well , some are opaque some are more of a mesh construction I used them on one of my projects and they worked really well and looked great with little of any maintenance - one company is "Tenshon" but there are others out there good luck - looks like your place would be a great place to sip a drink from.

1. Aesthetics - Appearance (modern/traditional/contemporary/eclectic etc. etc.)

2. Function. Will you be using the product for sun only OR sun/rain OR sun/rain/hail and snow?

3. Wind load. How much wind will the product need to withstand when in use and fully extended? In general products on a body of water need to withstand higher wind loads.

4. Budget - What is your budget for this project and what is the size of the area you would like to cover?
