I'll agree with your hubby regarding the vanity. For the vanity I would have advised something with full overlay doors to eliminate the shadow lines on the front of your vanity. Emphasize the clean look by possibly floating it. But if that's hat you have, then there you go.

I do think your vanity will be closer to modern with the white marble top with white sinks.

The bubble chandelier? There are code restrictions for chandeliers or pendant-style hanging lights over bath tubs. For modern/spa design, the bubble light could be interpreted as falling into that realm, but it wouldn't have been my first choice.

These things are what make "style" recommendations difficult for me to pin down. My version of "modern spa" can be different from everyone else's. Sure there are overall elements that make a style a style. But things can be stretched here to meet my ideas, or tweaked over there to meet your goals.

Modern spa? For surfaces you can consider large format tiles in a linear or stacked/grid pattern. Neutral shades for large fields of tile. You can incorporate minor colors which can be hints of green or blue.

There's still a strong calling for glass mosaic, accent walls, or showers. Bu glass is sort of slipping away as large format tile has exploded. At least that's what I'm seeing.

Curbless and doorless shower if you can pull that off.

Essentially, clean lines. Soothing colors for the hard surfaces. Paint colors can be pastels, and paint can be easily changed. Punches of stronger color can be provided with easily changed accent items; towels, rugs, vases, flowers, etc.

A good way to attack is to go on the photo sites and pull out photos you like. You'll eventually see a theme carry through them. It's a good way to focus your modern style. A floor you like. A shower you like. Tile size you like. It'll also help you define what you don't like. Etc, etc.

There are great looking porcelain look-a-likes that match natural stone but give better performance in wet areas and are easier to maintain.

If you go with a pebble tile, the "spa" element wants me to subdue any busy grout pattern in the pebble. I'd recommend a grout color that is close to the pebble color, have them compliment each other. Not contrast each other. More blending. Minimize the bright and busy contrast.

I think I've sort of rambled from your original post.

Trying to go back...you have the vanity. The teak color will set benchmark of sorts. Other wood elements in the room can relate to that color and grain. If you have a marble top, that's another item.

Your teak vanity. Depending on how you see it in the realm of "spa" or "modern", you can slick it up a bit. You can keep the color as is, or darken it a bit and give it a couple coats of a satin film finish, or even a gloss if you want to go bright and shiny.

A lot of variables. With more variables within. The wonder of design...

Hi thank you everyone . I have been reading your responses and want to reply as soon as I can get to my computer . I hate typing on my tiny iPhone . I am adding some before of the hideous before . I have the vanity listed on ebay I payed 2500 plus with the marble too and sinks . I could let it go for $2000 or really pushing it $1900 after that I just have to use it because my budget is tight . I just bought a &615 toilet and hubby was not to thrilled with price but I think he will like it . I like a traditional style though I am happy to let him have his wAy . I just not too good at seeing what's completely modern . The last post was very helpful regarding that . I will add some more pics following this of the before . I do have some very tall ceilings in the bath. Oh I love to do a curb less shower I have to look into it . This is a DIY job too. Thank you everytone

Boy do I need medicine cabinets . However my house is not always this gross . This is because of the hours I spend online looking and ordering and unordering stuff for this bathroom

I am thinking of a fixture over bath because if my ex the electrician puts in new smaller high hats I am not sure my hubby will be able to resheetrock and tape the ceiling . We have 6 inch hat highs now . Isn't that so 1980 's should I change them and worry about ceiling later ?

Yucky shower . Would love curb less . Looking into shower bases today . I wanted to tile and hubby does not know how to do the mud bottom or whatever they called it . However I saw they sell a ready to tile base . Anyone have opinions on that ? Experience with them etc . Also considering other types of bases . I have plastic and to me it looks cheap . What would be the most modern or spa like base?

Don't use that light. I would only use lighting that is rated for damp locations. Get your whole scheme together before you buy anything else! Do what Mongo suggested and go online to see images of what you like. You can't put everything in the room that you like, so you will have to cull. Find the basic themes that you like and build on that theme. You state you want modern. Pebbles and stone tile don't necessarily say modern to me. Pebbles are too organic to look modern. You might be thinking more of an organic look. The cabinet would look wonderful in that scheme. I typed in "organic modern bathroom" into Houzz. To me these are really more of an organic contemporary, as "modern" may not technically be accurate in the design term.

How wide is your current vanity? I noticed its between two walls. I have exactly the same setup. My vanity space is 72" and not a hair more so I'm having a hard time finding a vanity that doesn't have a top that hangs over on the sides.

Remember me, I'm the one that said I would buy your vanity if you we're close but you're not :(

Anyway I'm getting a custom vanity made because I couldn't find anything. I almost ordered the same one you have though but my cabinet guy finally started responded.

The space I have is 96 inches . My problem
Was a could not find one close enough to 96 inches that was modern enough for hubby . I jumped on the teak one that I bought without thinking because it looking modern to me , we have teak furniture from crate and barrel in our bedroom and thru the house and hubby loves it. I opened the top of box to perk but the thing is so well packed I could not see much . The top came separate in another huge box and I have not attempted to open it . My hubby still would love to sell the vanity . Be just really wants a floating one that goes end to end . Believe it or not he wanted Ike's kitchen cabinets with a quartz tip and recessed sink and custom doors from a company called semi handmade that makes custom doors for ikea . The think at this point is I don't have the money to let him have what he wants because I have no way to sell it . I did put it on ebay but nothing yet . I am pretty sure we will just have to use it . How much was your custom cabinets quote ? I called a few places and the prices was insane . I gave up . Last person I called said they don't take jobs under $15,000. I am trying to proceed with rest of ordering and planning for bath . I did find what I think is a great deal on a air / jacuzzi tub with chrometherpy And aromatherapy for $1400 . I picked and ordered the toilet. I waiting on hubby to pick tiles as I don't want to repeat the vanity mistake with tiles . I wish u were closer and I could sell you this vanity . I would be willing to let it go at even $1800 at this point . But again with the people helping me I think I will end up using it I can't even imagine how someone could get these items if they bought them from me . Two huge boxes that came by freight . He dragging me to ikea as we speak . Oh man

could you put a solid top on that vanity and use it as a dresser or buffet, entry piece. Maybe something that wouldn't make it look so bathroomy, wood or marble/granite cut without an overhang. It's really very pretty and could be useful elsewhere and your hubby could get what he really wants for the bath.

I got three different quotes on a custom 72" vanity. One place quoted 2 -30" bases with a 12" center drawer so three pieces $650-$850 (merrilat and Kraft made) then I got quoted some nicer lines (dynasty and kitchen craft) and price was $1600. I told the lady my budget was $1000 for the vanity. I'm already spending $1000 on the quartz top. I ended up calling a friend I went to high school with that owns a local cabinet shop- he quoted me $820-$950 for partial overall, which I didn't want. I wanted full overlay but its tricky since my cabinets butt up to the wall (not all full overall doors will open properly) so cabinet guy is supposed to build me a one piece custom inset cabinet $1150 cherry wood but he's a pain to get ahold of. If he doesn't do something soon then I'm ordering the teak vanity like you have.

Yes mine is listed on there I give it to you for $1500 with the top at this point but your too cat . I finally ripped the box so I can see it better . I want to say in looks very unfinished . Not sure if it's good or bad . I have some crate and barrel unfinished teak but that's in the bedroom . If you want I could try to take a close up pic just so u can see what your getting in case u interested in getting in from them . We are looking at barker door cabinets TTa . This vanity dilemma is holding up my whole bath project . My hubby truly does not want to use it . He has his heart set on gray tiles and feels this won't match it .

the reply. I read on the Signature Hardware website a reviewer noted the
finish wasn't what was expected – the reviewer wrote, “The color isn't golden. You will
need to rub with teak oil to bring out the color - if that is the look you are
going for.” So maybe you are seeing the same thing but I’m sure it’s fine. My guy is
supposed to have my cabinet done this week. I hope everything works out
with your remodel.
