I like it as is. While I don't want everything in my house to be an antique usually they are well made and less likely to go down in value than say items from Pier one or some of the other trendy shops.

I like it. It needs a place where it can be dramatic, it is not a casual piece.

I would also tone down the gold. Try turning it upside down.

I like the shape. Try painting it, black, white or red, etc. You can always distress the edges.

Agree with cavecay. Paint it black , white or another color. Spray paint is cheap and can make anything old look more modern if that is the look you are going for.

It's lovely as it is if you have traditional furnishings. If your home is more contemporary, then it would look cool in a glossy hot pink or emerald green finish.

Funny, I too thought it should be turned upside down! I love the mirror. It is funky and interesting. And I agree the gold is much and it would look better with a dry brush silver, but an antique silver (darker, more gray) to match better with the gold.

Any other color would look great, and I agree, turn it upside-down!

I think it's cool! Make it a conversation piece. What if you painted the frame a bold color that contrasted with the wall behind it?

Too 70's for my taste. Upside down is better though.

Keep it. If the color is not right for you change it to silver or aluminum leaf.

I'm an antique lover so I think its wonderful as is. I would place it some place where it would make a dramatic statement like an entry hall----or it would look great in the right bathroom.

I have this same mirror, though the gold finish is a little more "burnished." I am using it now in my bedroom. I paired it with this great textural wood stepped chest. In my prior home I used the mirror/chest combo in the entry way. It was a nice departure from the standard entry console table.

I love it just as it is! Keeper for sure!

I'm not sure what your home looks like, but in the right space several mirrors of different shapes/vintages grouped together and painted the same color can be quite a design statement. In a dreary room or hallway, the mirrors can help bounce light and brighten the area.

Hello everyone! I am sorry I am only thanking you now for your wonderful comments. I wasn't getting any notices from Houzz that there were comments. They got stuck in my spam folder. Sadly, I sold the mirror. My husband disliked it too much to keep. I would have totally spray painted it, though and what a great idea to hang it upside down. I never would have thought of that.
