I'm not sure what kind of style you like. What kind of look would you like to have for your new home?

The current colors work very well with the brick.

The only thing I'm not wild about is the yellowish color above the garage and windows. I'd put brown there and use the yellow for the trim.

I agree with Charles. This house needs some lightening up and landscape work. Don't go dark colors...bring some white or light beige into the mix painting the trim, gutters, and around the windows! You will love the new fresh feelings the light will give!

I am more a "grey and white" combination person, but my husband is more of a "brown and tan" individual. The yellowish color is actually a lighter tan steel siding. It's very durable (and expensive) so I wouldn't want to change that. I like the idea of painting the trim around the windows and the garage to match the white of the window sashes. Maybe even making the entire garage door a cream color as well? What color of shutters would be best if we added those? Our neighbors to the left in the pic have dull teal accents and the others to the right have maroon.

Also, we gutted the bushes/plants near the house yesterday and plan to bring in more dirt later this week to have more of a slope for water drainage. Any landscaping ideas?

The current colors on your house nicely complement the tan and brown brick and reddish brown roof. Consider a lighter shade from the brick to use on the garage doors and trim to reduce the contrast against the steel siding. Whenever it's time to replace the windows, a bronze finish would be better than white with your house. If you add shutters, consider the same color as the steel siding or the new color you select for the trim. Note that it will be difficult to fit the correct size shutters around the double windows between the garage and front door.

FYI, you can very successfully paint metal siding, just make sure to wash off any chalking thoroughly and choose a lighter tone rather than a darker tone. (darker tones may cause warping from thermal gain). Shutters, in my opinion, should be correctly sized, and I don't think they will work on your house. If it were my house I would paint the siding above the windows and around the garage a terra cotta color, (match your brick) to blend with the brick and minimize them. I'd leave the garage door the brown color, and I'd paint the front door a dark marine blue or charcoal gray and add the same color on some window boxes. I would also plant a tallish specimen plant between the two windows on the right, but first need to know your zone and the exposure before I could start with a suggestion. :)

Have your guests park on the street and bring them in from there. Don't encourage them to crowd the driveway access at the street. There is a handsome trimmed bush or a 3-4' structure on the right in the initial photo, which says, "incorporate me in your entry."

Add some flagstones between the curb and sidewalk, and then bring a walkway just to the left of that 3-4' structure, then to sweep onward toward the entry sequence.

You might add a postlight, some potted plants and a bench out there at the sidewalk entry, just to say "Welcome to my home." Your neighbors are going to want to be invited over to see all of what you have accomplished.

Perhaps you will place a little entry terrace between the two windows on the right of your facade, a little outdoor room to invite the neighbors for coffee.
