i'd undo the backsplash and go for solid light tiles.

The granite is beautiful. Have you tried installing undercabinet lighting?

I like the granite. I would use glass tiles in the lightest 2 or 3 colors in the granite.

If the granite is too busy for you I would paint the backsplash. Any tiles would make it more busy.

I would remove the granite backsplash and choose a lighter color in the granite for the backsplash. look for glass or ceramic subway tiles in that color, and color match the grout. That will create a lighter, almost seamless, and classic look

I also think removing the backsplash and using a white, simple tile will look amazing. The granite is beautiful.

I think it's a pretty granite. It does have a good amount of color and pattern, but I think that's what makes it pretty. So you just need to keep your backsplash tile light colored and simple. I would tear out the little short backsplash if possible and then use white subway or glass tiles on the wall. Undercabinet lighting is also a great idea if you don't already have it.

I agree I would take off that 3 inch backsplash and put up white subway tiles with matching grout...the pics above look almost exactly what you have in your house...I see a warm wood floor as well.

I'd keep it very simple, you don't want anything to make it even more busy than it is (but it doesn't look bad).

Take your time, bring home samples from the hardware store to put up next to the wall. Carefully consider how it looks with counter tops and cabinets. Does it tone down the counter top?

You can also enlist some help from wherever your purchased the counter tops--tell them your dilemma, bring in pictures, ask them to bring out several samples that would work. Don't make a snap decision, ask to keep the samples for at least a week. Put aside those that immediately don't work, keep the remainder up and weed out those that (as time passes) just don't do it for you.
