Hello all I brought a Trinity Arc lamp from houzz sold by Michael Anthony furniture for $200.
I got it this week and today I go to target and the same lamp is their for $99. I called customer service and the give me some bull crap saying it's not the same because it's made by someone else!! Rip off!!!!

I am sorry you feel disappointed, but while it is a similar lamp, it is not the same. Target's is seven inches wider and several inches shorter. Not sure about quality or materials without more information, however.
I am sorry you aren't happy though.

Can you not return the name brand version?

@1977 thanks for the idea but I don't have the original box and its put together already but thanks. Just be aware before u buy. u think your getting something a lil different and you see it in your local target just a lil thicker or a slight non noticeable difference for half!!!!

That's an example of why it's good to shop around when buying trendy items. I'll bet yours has a nicer finish and details.

I can't afford the pricey stores anyway. Craigslist is more for me.

There are several vendors for this same product. The Trinity Arc Lamp can be purchased from many stores. Marc Anthony is not the designer; just a vendor. Always shop around.

There are lots of copies of popular designs, too...as soon as someone clever designs something, it's being photographed and being copied with cheaper quality somewhere in China or wherever...so be mindful you are comparing apples to apples, and not to lemons, also...

Yes, the copycat is this designer's nemesis, hence no projects posted, and advice is filtered.

It's why I have a boycott list of certain popular stores. Won't recommend them to anyone.

At least you can say yours is from "Michael Anthony" and not "Target". Sounds better! And there you have it. Not much more but bragging rights at this point.

Same reason people by Toyota and not Tata.

...well, that and...if it's a xenon instead of a Jaguar, you're looking at a lot less durability and safety in the Tata than in the Toyota...

You really get what you pay for. If the knock off is wider and shorter then it will have a different look in your house. Inches do make a difference. Like diamonds 75 points is 'almost' 1 carat, but no, it isn't one carat. You can choose almost or perfect but hard to get perfect cheap. Enjoy your beautiful lamp and be happy. You are only out dinner out for one night and your lamp is going to get alot of compliments----Marc Antony sounds so much better than Target! haha Cheap lesson learned.

I enjoy nice items, but I am realistic about my budget as well. I notice that sometimes when you google an item, it will give you "similar" items. I always check them out (as well as some of the reviews). At that time you can decide which you want. Lastly, it should not matter what others think about where you shop. I would have been perturbed as well when I saw that I missed out on the Target version. :-)

To me, the target version has a completely different look with conical shades rather than cylinder ones...and only has 3.5 stars on their website. Other than being cheaper, I'm not sure would have ultimately been happy with it.

I can totally tell the difference between the Trinity Arc and the Target version just from looking at the two photos you posted. I would say that you got the better lamp of the two, it looks loads nicer than the Target version. Just be happy knowing that your lamp must be so popular that it's being copy-catted- it's a great compliment!

Thse 2 lamps are not the same first the shades are not even the same shape if you want to compare then apples to apples .

One thing I notice when I buy a 'knock off' for the look is that the weight is not there. I hate when a table flip over with a gentle tap or a lamp is crooked because it is poorly put together. But be aware that a knock off is going to be less all the way around and then be happy with your savings.

That's what the term "buyer beware" means. I think we have all had a similar thing happen. But, as someone else said, it is best to shop around and compare.

A red Fiero surely isn't the equivalent of a red F40 to anyone, is it? If it is, then you don't need to be buying cars if you aren't educated enough to tell the difference. You deserve to drive the Fiero.

Just because something is superficially simiar doesn't mean that it has the same capabiliities or quality or durability. Bronson Pinchot is no Brad Pitt despite them both being male actors in their 50's with the initials BP.
