Does the look go with your house? I'd concur that Id hate to see it ripped out just to put in the builder-grade-neutral palette, KWIM? ANd I am a colorphobe. Can you find another way to tone it down?

I like the bathroom but the small room makes for some challenges. I might suggest a recessed mirror cabinet in the wall to add more storage. Also a wall mount sink with hand towel rack like attached image.

Take the stuff off the back of the toilet unless you don't mind if something accidentally gets knocked in the toilet.

thought ure pic was an after photo pic. keep the tile but yes freshen up the grout. liking the sink suggestion from earlier post.

go grey with walls. eliminate all other colors...just white sink toilet/graywalls and probably radiator if you can/and those cool blue tiles. resist the impulse to decorate, keep it simple. let the tiles to all the talking in this room

OMG, I agree with everyone. Please keep the tile, it is so unusual and beautiful. I love it...keep them please.

Also, if it was my room, I would change the wall colour and trim to a paint colour that is in the same tone as the tile. I think the sink and toilet are too stark looking against the existing tiles, so I would change them out to coloured fixtures. I would do a simple silver mirror above the sink.

I do not love the tile. Do not let these people bully you into changing your plans if you want a change.

If this is a powder room and storage is not really an issue, then I think the only real discriminator between a small pedestal sink and a small floating vanity is your preference -- the former is a more classic style and the latter more modern (and a little more open at floor level), but in both case your options will be limited by the need for something that doesn't protrude too far from the wall. Research what's out there and you may find that your decision is obvious.

LOVE THE TILE. I would re-grout only. it is very beautiful and I bet quite expensive tile.

I'm not fond of the tile either, appears to be several different shades of blue. If you're happy with a retro look, keep them, and use paint to mute the colors. If you want a more modern look, replace them. As it is a small space, I'd search for a special tile, either shape or finish. Floating shelf vanity is more modern, and you can use just about any material. If you keep the current tile, I'd use the pedestal.

The tile is nice, but here are two examples of smaller bathroom spaces that use tile...

that tile is definitely not the bland grey or light beige tile so typical of the bland bathrooms. but is a stunning hand made tile (hence the color variations) and for a pwder room just perfect. the grout is disgusting and need to be changed, but the fixtures are nice and so is the mirror. it would be a pity to change that for an inexpensive white or grey tile.

Your powder room is gorgeous as is! The tile has a handmade artisan antique look and the color is rich. Please don't destroy. I would just do a thorough deep cleaning and use a charcoal grey colorant on the tile grout lines. Your fixtures look to be in perfectly good condition and both toilet and pedestal sink have great style. I would leave both in place. Paint the walls above the tile a rich deep gray and use that color for towels. Paint the mirror above the sink black in a satin finish or an antique silver if you want a little more bling. Just a few simple touch ups will freshen the room. Keep the unique beauty of your room intact.

Is the tile too retro for your home's overall decor? A white tile and floating vanity will give this bathroom a larger, more airy feel if that's what you are looking to achieve.

I know people who would pay a FORTUNE for that tile! Please reconsider changing it!

I agree that the tiles are gorgeous and I would hate to see you tear them out - especially if they are in keeping with the overall feel and style of the home. However, you're the one who lives there, so if you do decide to tear them out, please do so in a way to preserve them and sell them to someone who would appreciate them for all their retro glamour!

I would just change the mirror (white maybe?) and remove the items from the top of the toilet. I love the tile, but it is your home. If you don't like the tile, don't keep it.

Wow! I also love this room and think it just needs a bit of refreshing to make it a double wow. I'd be thinking a fresh coat of paint, a new mirror and accessories. The bones are excellent as is.

Keep everything, re-grout tile, paint walls, change out mirror to something more dramatic.

Clearly there's a lot of love out there for the existing tile. If you decide to replace it, please salvage as much of the tile as you can. There are stores that sell "used" tile, or you could post it on Craigslist and ebay.

Or, put it in a box and ship it to me! My friend is dying to have turquoise in her bathroom and I'd love to give your tiles to her as a gift.

Agree that your bath is great as is. It might be fun to paint a black vertical stripes on the walls above the tiles.

Gorgeous room, fabulous tile, beautiful mirror. Refresh grout, lose everything on the toilet except the amaryllis, it's finished.

I love your bathroom. If you decide to keep the tile I would remove all red accents and knick knacks and get a silvery mirror. Keep it simple, the tile is the star. If you have the budget the wall mount sink with towel racks is great.

What a pretty little bathroom! I would regrout/refresh with light grey, paint the walls light grey (my monitor is showing the walls a light grey already but not sure if they are really white) paint the radiator grey too. Switch out that mirror (quite beautiful, I'd use it somewhere else in the house) with a silver framed mirror and remove the items on the back of the toilet. Towels white coloured only/or white with small grey and/or small turquoise accents on them. I'd keep that pedestal sink or a smaller pedestal sink. It appears the floor is tiled the same as the walls. Perhaps by removing the floor tiles (donate, sell, or keep for other projects) and replacing with another floor (white tiles etc) it may tone down the turquoise for you find it's too much. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Please keep your wonderful tile. Embrace it, just change your mirror to a more Moroccan style. It will be beautiful.

Yet another plea to save the tile! It is colorful and classy at the same time. Upgrading the grout will make it feel fresher, as suggested. Changing the toilet and sink (NOT to a color as someone mentioned) could bring you the new feel you are hoping for. You could mix it up and go streamlined modern. Or you could find something sinuously Art Nouveau. So many choices, but if you keep it white (or close to white) almost anything could go.

I think your tiles are gorgeous, so I hope you change your mind about ripping them out. But if you really want to remove, then consider removing them carefully. You might be able to sell them or give them to someone else who will be able to use it.

Please don't turn your beautiful little bathroom into yet another "updated" but generic room. Those tiles are gorgeous!

The current tile is very cool , but if it isn't original to the house, I wouldn't sweat making a tile change.

The tile is far more versatile than you think! Keep it but refresh the grout with a color that closely matches the tile. That will vastly reduce the busy pattern the tile creates in the small space, making it appear larger. Add a shelf above the toilet and relocate the accessories to the shelf. Hanging an eye-catching picture just above the shelf would also help to focus one's attention there. Pedestal sinks are pretty but impractical due to their lack of surface space. Ironically, they are used in small baths where every bit of surface space counts. Opt for the suspended counter option. If it were my bathroom I would use a vanity with open shelving and baskets instead of either option. A whisper of pewter grey as the wall color would tone down the high contrast between tile and wall, also making the space appear larger. I personally would use accessories all in one single accent color. I could see soft buttery yellow or coral peach for that. Black or spa green might also work. Carefully selected accessories will set the mood of the room, which might be modern, chic, beachy, asian/spa, retro or funky. You can pull any of those off without changing the tile.

I'd say less is more in this space, even though I do love the turquoise tile. Think soft, subdued colors and anything that frees the floorspace. Go for the floating vanity!

The tile is gorgeous. I'd just replace the grout with white grout to make it more modern.

If you are dead set on removing it, please don't break it - have someone carefully remove it and then sell to a salvage type place. I am sure someone else would love to make a backsplash out of those tiles.

I would just paint the radiator a deep marine or navy blue to match the small row of dark blue tile that is visible near the floor and paint your walls a satin finish gloss paint in the same dark blue. For a more modern touch paint the woodwork around the window the same dark color. You have natural drama in that powder room so go with it! Add a dark mahogany antique mirror over the sink for a more masculine feel to balance the chunky texture of the the tile.
