Please tell me your thoughts ( as a designer) or a home owner who built a house or put in new cabinets......

Do the cabinets ideally need to match in the bathrooms and kitchen?

If so should they also match the furniture throughout the house which is visible to those cabinets................eg. The couch and table in the living room being scene from the kitchen.

If for example I do black and gray in the kitchen and the living area has more brown and beige tones than I assume this is not good.

Since I already have a large beige off white sectional and a brown couch am I locked into having to choose a brown or beige or cream color for the cabinets instead of a bright white or gray shade?



again I will just post a few pics to show you what I mean but I think this is the root of my problems in deciding. I want that gray white modern color scheme but feel it wont work with the cream sectional and the brown couch.

Maybe I should just sell the black appliances and get stainless.

I really dont want to be on here after my renovation asking how to lighten a dark kitchen ( which I see many saying). I already see that these dark cabinets make the room too dark and I want a brighter feel.

with the kitchen in view of the sectional that is light beige..........I just dont know what color to choose ( I love the white and stainless look) but will beige and white go together? I have a cabinet in the hall close to the table and couch and so I just dont think the white white will work.

yet the dark brown /blk seems too dark.

The fireplace and brown couch are across ( almost connected) to the kitchen. The fireplace will be finished and lighter. The rug can be bigger and lighter.

So what colors will work best for the kitchen?
