Would shutters the same as the house color be okay?

I posted here a few months ago about black shutters but now that the house is done, I don't think I want to go in that direction. The shutters went up yesterday and need to be painted. Would it look okay to use the same as the house color (SW Wool Skein) but have the paint made at 150% for a bit of contrast? I don't want to go too dark on them. The trim color is clay (see pic with it next to Wool Skein) but I'm not a huge fan of it so I don't want to do shutters that color. I had the door painted SW Tricorn Black and it doesn't look as good as I thought it would (I prefer neutral colors). . I am just struggling to have it all come together :( It's a dreary day so hopefully you can see the colors okay. Thank you!

We think a lighter color on the shutters would look better than the same house color. I know you didn't want a large amount of contrast, but some contrast will help give your exterior depth. We like doing black doors on our homes and thinks it looks good. If you wanted to soften the look you could paint the door the same color as your trim

This was my inspiration photo for lighter shutters. But wondering if it'll look okay on my house since we used different color and of course different style house.

I'm not sure if darkening the main color for your shutters will give you the contrast you want. If you are looking for a color darker than your main we would suggest Benjamin Moore AC-2 'Berkshire Beige' or HC-95 'Sag Harbor Gray'. This will provide a noticeable contrast, but more subtle than black shutter would be.

Have you thought about doing the shutters a color that is lighter than your home? You could look at Benjamin Moore HC-27 'Monterey White'.

It is hard to know without having a sample of your trim color here in person, but we hope this helps.

I have thought about a lighter color. I might lean in that direction again! Thank you! It seems like most people do the darker shutters here and more western or rustic style which is not my taste.

JayMarc Homes, do you think it would look better to do the lighter color as you mentioned or the same exact color as the house (not at 150% as I mentioned before)? Do you think the black door looks odd? Wondering if I should repaint it! Thanks!

Having the shutters the same color as the house seems too bland. Do check JayMarc Homes' suggestion of Berkshire Beige and Sag Harbor Gray...both great colors and nice with your roof. A lighter shutter color would also work.

The first picture is about how your house would look with lighter shutters. I think it looks good! Just tossing out an idea here...feel free to shoot it down, but have you thought about a color that isn't so neutral? A blue or green would look nice on your home. See image 2.

b651, that house with the blue shutters is gorgeous! I think the blue is stunning on that house but I'm just not feeling it on mine for some reason. I think I'm just too big of a wimp to think outside the box like that ;) I really appreciate the thought! Thanks for the pics!

I am not a designer but b561's recommendation for that blue is beautiful. And the example provided gives a good idea of what your house will look like. I definitely would not paint the shutters the same color as the house. I also thought about just staining them so they are a similar color to what they are now. That's probably too rustic of a look for you, but just a thought.
