The plastic caps are nice, but as a warning they are not airtight. They will leak if tipped when storing liquids, and dry goods will go stale sooner. I would recommend using the flat lids underneath if what you're storing needs either. I do love them for capping jars in the fridge short term though.

A preschool or daycare might take the rings--crafts or tied together as a noisemaker.

Agree. For any long term storage you'd do better to use the lids and bands than the plastic caps. Much better seal.

Our local charity thrift stores accept bands and lids, new. Bag them, mark then NEW and give them to Goodwill or other. Or advertise them on Craigslist for free or a small price. I look in those places for canning supplies.

I advertised them on Craigslist but didn't get any takers. I think people who look for free stuff on Craigslist are looking for stuff they can resell. I'll try Goodwill.

Don't worry, I'm just using them for short-term storage. I just prefer glass containers to plastic for storing leftovers and stuff.
