Sounds like you have reason to call the contractor back for exceeding the allowable number of wires in that box. Was it a permitted job? Was the 'electrician' licensed?

you can purchase extra deep boxes, but none of them will allow more than 4 cables by code. You can install a 4x4 box in various depths to accommodate all the wires, but must be fully accessible after the repair, so a cover is a must.

You need to make sure your wall has sufficient depth for a deeper box. The other option is to use a "mud ring" to make your quad box appear to be smaller in finished appearance.
