sorry for lack of info I'm new to this and downloading photos etc. The shared worktop needs space for our desktop monitor/keyboard and space for my husband to paint. The internet cable is on the wall where that huge desk is. The desk is going for sure and I'd like storage shelves on wall above desk perhaps?

That's an awfully small room to get that much furniture in comfortably.

My office is around that size, and I have an old kneeling chair from the 80s I put under my desk to put my feet up on. You might try to figure out a way for the office chair to do double duty instead of putting a recliner in there as I just don't think you're going to be able to get around if your husband is reclined in it. And an overcrowded room is going to make the room feel claustrophobic.

Thanks, we have tried the closet idea already but missed space for coats so put it back together. I hadn't thought of removing the french doors which might well make the room appear more spacious. I'm going back to the drawing board to figure out some built-ins.
