Track lighting can either be suspended if there is anything obstructing the track. If the concrete is flat it can be surface mounted.

hcoppek: thanks for the question. The tracks and pendants in our Golden View Residence are from Juno Lighting. They are low voltage MR16, 50 watt adjustable heads, on dimmers. If you're mounting directly to a raw concrete ceiling surface we recommend using a short stand-off or washer shim. As RM&Co mentions, unless the concrete is true and flat surface mounting the track may be challenging. Also, you'll need to core out the concrete to make the electrical connection unless you want to see surface mounted conduit snaking across your ceiling. Hope this helps, best of luck.
