Reattaching Touch Plate

There are three (what look like) puck lights in the old house we just purchased. They used to be turned on via a touch plate. That touch plate is missing. Somehow, the lights got activated and now we can't turn them off. We opened the wall behind where the touch plate used to be and there is a sole wire, assuming it is what used to be connected to the touch plate. All other wires are behind the walls and I do not want to open them. Is it possible to reattached this exposed wire to a new touch plate? Most of what I see sold is a touch plate already attached to a wire... I need a solo touch plate. Any ideas if this is doable, or what I should do?
