Are you quilting this weekend? August 21-23

I don't have plans to quilt this weekend. DS and family are coming on Sunday and Monday. I will be busy getting food ready for their visit and enjoying the time with them while they are here.

Are you sewing or quilting this weekend?

I am sewing like mad to get another dorm quilt ready in time. This will be my third and it's almost together and ready for borders. I'll quilt this one myself as the longarmer can't get it back to me in time. But, twin size isn't bad and I bought the backing today and am ready to get it pin basted soon. Wish me luck. It's good to be sewing again.

Mostly cleaning / organizing the sewing room, attempting to decide what to take for retreat. So little time...so many projects! Seeing Lois post the morning star blocks reminded me I selected that block for the lotto and started my own morning star top...it's still a WIP... Perhaps those blocks will go to retreat !

I am madly cutting stuff for retreat. I want to have everything cut and ready to go by the end of this weekend. I decided that I wanted to make a tumbler flag wallhanging, so I am cutting the tumblers out for it this evening. Thank goodness for the accuquilt go and the tumbler die. I have some row by rows to do at retreat also. I have chosen the fabrics and kitted them up. I have lots of christmas 2.5 inch strips that I am taking to make a jelly roll race type quilt. I am also bringing a big crate full of strings to work on string blocks. I am probably bringing way too much but I usually am just working on one huge and difficult quilt while I am there so it is hard to guage how much to bring. I have a bricks and stepping stones quilt kitted up also that will be in the mix. I should not run out of anything to do :)

I've been working hard on my DGD argyle quilt. I have 4 of the 7 rows completed. But I just needed a break, so I've been cutting squares. I loved the Scrappy Mountain Majesties quilt so much that I decided to make myself one too. I have most of the fabrics I used in my first one, so this one will look very much the same. I've got all the squares cut and packaged. Then I thought, what if I cut the blocks 6.5" inches instead of 8.5" and used bright prints and one solid color to make a child's quilt. So now I'm cutting smaller squares too. I may use one of the other layouts for the smaller quilt. These quilt "kits" will go with me to Hawaii this winter. They are the perfect project to work on in a limited space.

I sandwiched one quilt tonight and hope to get another sandwiched tomorrow. We are going to the peach festival tomorrow - starting with a pancake breakfast - yummy! DH will probably go listen to music tomorrow night, but depending on how tired my leg is, I may stay home & sew! Sunday I have meetings at church until late afternoon and dinner with friends Sunday night so no sewing Sunday. I will be happy if I can get one more UFO sandwiched!

I finished a small baby quilt top yesterday and today hope to get cutting for another top . Put the Mountain Majesties on hold since these two quilts should be sent off soon.

I take it the retreat is coming up soon? :) It sounds like such fun!

I plan to keep working on my Provence and Beyond kit. I finished the month 1 blocks and sewed the large center block. It has an applique flower design, so I'm going to get the pieces cut and organized and take it when we go on our cruise over Labor day weekend. After I get the applique prep done I'll start on the month 3 blocks.

I have the piano key borders on both sides of DD's quilt and everything ready to go for the end and top....maybe I can get it done tomorrow. I also played with making a Christmas table runner inspired by these blocks.

I worked on 2 lap quilts for DH and myself that will go in our camper. Just doing super simple stuff. I got one quilted and the other one sandwiched. No more sewing for a little bit as we left for Houston this a.m. for the week. Hope to be back at by next weekend. Asking for extra prayers for my SIL who will be having liver cancer surgery on Monday.

Have Heidi (and y'all) on my prayer list, Linda! Looking for that miracle. On the advice of a friend (ibquiltn4fun), i did a little sewing therapy myself this weekend....this little dolly bed blankie....pretty tickled with the results and it was a start-finish deal...ready to go. It just looks sooooooo 'baby' to me, I guess!!
