Pleas help me id this tree

No one seems to know what tree this is. It's leaflets look similar to
those of the golden rain tree; but the pinnate leaves are opposite and
are themselves "sub" pinnate (I don't know the correct term for this
form), and are also opposite, and always odd in number--usually 5 or 7
leaflets. The young fruits are small, green, pea-sized and almost
perfectly spherical. The shelled nut is only a little smaller, nearly round, and slighlty wrinkled. The entire leaf system--as in the picture turns
yellow and drops complete in the fall. It is not a native tree, but it
must come from a warm climate, because here in central Virginia it is
likely to die back--completely or partially--if the winter has been very
cold. The lower branches are almost always winter-killed and if it
comes back, it does so only at the top of the tree. The tree is quite
tall at the moment, and it seems to flower only near the top, where I
can't really see the blossoms. But I believe they are small and white.
Any ideas?
