Three observations:

1. Light filtering solar shades do not provide privacy at night.

2. Wood blinds and faux wood blinds are good because they do provide privacy, but they don't seem right for the room.

3. Grass or bamboo shades with privacy liner would be my choice to work better with the style of your beautiful new home.

We recently installed a 2 inch blind over a double window in the master bath. The width is no more than 40 inches and length about 4 feet. With just this size, the blinds are too HEAVY to pull up using the pull cords. You must physically lift them with your left hand while pulling the cord with your right hand. In addition, all that weight then locks down on the cord, which the more weight the more quickly the locking nut will cut through your cords, eventually. For this reason alone, I would be reluctant to put 2 inch blinds on huge window, unless you never plan to lift them entirely and only plan to use the tilt mechanism.

You basically have a 3 wall configuration of vertical stripes with your windows. Adding large grid of horizontal stripes from a 2 inch blind is going to give you mad plaid.

Conversely, at the same time, we added an old fashioned window roller blind over a utility door window. They have surprisingly "designer" styles one can buy in roller blinds, and cornices to hide the top. Love the functionality, although you do not get any options for partial filtered light with this route, or partial view, unless you use a light filtering but not blocking membrane - then you would lose the ability to block. Depends on what your preferences are.

Yes, the weight of wood blinds can be a problem, and it's particularly an issue with faux wood blinds which weigh considerably more than real wood blinds.
