Currently somewhat unbalanced composition architecturally. A gable above the palladian (half circle) window, centered above the metal roof, will help better emphasize the entrance. There is also a lack of contrast in the material colors. New front door, as you suggested, is a good idea. I see a bright cadmium yellow door or a cobalt blue front door ... Don't be afraid to be creative !

Looks like your roof is a warm dark brown. If so, I would choose a warmer neutral for the stucco, and highlight the details at the corners with a color a shad or two lighter. Paint the trim the same color as the corner details---maybe a cream color. Once you have your color scheme, go for an inviting accent color on the front door. Have you considered having double doors for the front door?

I suggest hi lighting the architectural features on the homes corners and windows in a contrasting color of the homes base paint colors. For example if the home's base color is the light gray, the the accents a couple of shades darker. I do think shutters will compliment the facade.

I'm in agreement with glschisler. Shutters aren't necessary on your facade but highlighting the raised stucco details will make a world of difference-maybe a few shades darker to pull some of the darker color out of your roof. I also agree that the shrubs are a bit heavy and formal. Consider ornamental grasses, etc. to loosen up some of the geometric and sharper lines of the house.

I appreciate the input. I was thinking along the lines of adding some bulkier stucco window trim, painted in a contrasting color. Seems like that would be architecturally more correct than shutters for the style of house? I would also like to change the attack vent at the top with a window…how would that look?

I would try painting the existing trim in a contrasting color before adding more window trim but it's definitely a better option than shutters. Replacing the attic vent with a window might cause issues with proper air ventilation.
