I also would not have thought to put in a larger window, good point. That's a gutter on the gable, I'm hoping we can get rid of it!

You shouldn't have any trouble getting rid of the gutter. Just cap it at the ends of the eaves. Those sliding barn door shutters are cute but I bet they're an expensive proposition! Is there a certain budget you had planned? I think a small porch would be a better investment. There's something about the simplicity of the all white farm house that I find quite appealing!

Good point. The porch would definitely be a better investment. We don't really have a budget, the question is more If I can get the plan figured out before we get the siding and roofing done. My hubby is chomping at the bit to get it done before winter! If I don't have a plan for the porch or portico before then it will probably be a while until we get to it. I'm having such a hard time visualizing everything!

Do you have a contractor who can give you an estimate and some ideas for the porch? It would be nice to have a covered entry before winter sets in. Besides that, I find if I don't do something right away, it slides to the bottom of the pile and never gets finished! I think a porch similar to the Ridgefield Vineyard farm house about 6 feet deep and the length of your house from the gable end over to the other end would look wonderful. I wish I knew how to photoshop!

Yes, I think we found someone! We got a price for roofing and siding from a company but they wouldn't help with any design and wouldn't build the porch. You're right, it would be so nice to get this done. I have high hopes for the new company that's coming out to estimate for us. Thanks for checking in! I wish i knew photoshop too! I think your home has potential! The porch along the front with a shed roof and possibly a dormer would do wonders for your home. Also, would like to see a roof overhang on the front left gable or at the very least, a min. 6" frieze board following the roof line. I would be happy to draw this front elevation for you. All I would need is a few measurements and a few more pics. Cost would be roughly $200
