2 lights should be more than enough for a 72" island. If you opt for the chandelier something like the pic above you should def. only have one.

I love the drum chandeliers. I am remodeling my kitchen and also agonizing over what size I can use. My island is 27x62. How wide can the drum light be and how far above the island must it hang? I keep finding lights that I like but they seem too small in diameter or too long. Help!

Our smallest cage light is 12" square...so you'd still be able to fit two above your island! How tall are your ceilings? We can make them without the brass arms so they won't hand too low if necessary.

Lantern and Scroll: Do you have any suggestions in nickel? The kitchen with be 2_tone cabinets (white perimeter, dark island, dark wood floors, stainless appliances and stainless chimney style hood)...Like the picture you posted but those might be too big for me

I love the Restoration Hardware Benson pendants. I did a search and three are often on 10 foot islands, so maybe you can use only two, or two larger ones.
I also love this light from Rejuvenation - you can customize it and my personal favorite is the chrome with the opal globe shade with wire mesh.

I would do 2 med-small pendants.

We make those lights in nickel! The picture shows our 16" lights. So our 12" ones would be perfect if you're looking for something smaller.

I think that three pendant lights would look best for your kitchen island. Designers like to follow a rule of three because it creates a visual balance and is more appealing to the eye.

With the length of this island I think you should not have a problem with a 7” pendant. If you are worried about it looking too bulky, I would recommend maybe downsizing a little to something like a 4’’ pendant.

I recently finished a Kitchen where we utlized three large pendants over the island. These pendants are from West Elm and measure 10.5" in diameter. They are mercury glass and provide excellent lighting. For your 72" island, two of this size would work nicely. Good luck with your Kitchen remodel!!!

Thanks everyone! I think I am leaning towards industrial lighting (i.e. Benson Pendant). If I went with 2, should I stick with 8" or go with two 12" pendants. Thanks for all the help and pictures.
