The most common source of failure is the remote. I'm going to assume you replaced the batteries in the remote and if it has an indicator light, it lights when you press a button. If so, the receiver in the fan itself has probably failed. Generic replacements are available for as little as $20. Make sure you turn off the power before making any repairs.

If you want to troubleshoot before spending the money, let us know and someone will walk you through the steps but you will need some electrical test equipment.

Ok so now Im embarrassed. I think maybe the battery is dead in the remote although the light is working. I think I had a senior moment (or two) when I was trying to get the thing going and switching the wall switch, pulling the chain and using the dead remote. Anyway thank you for your responses.
