It looks like you have spent a lot of money on your kitchen with the granite and type of back splash that you have selected. I can not really get a good view of the granite, but it looks like you have two busy surfaces competing against each other. I am not sure how much of your kitchen that you have done with this back splash or how costly it has been, but I would suggest if you have only completed this small section to date that you consider using the tile as a feature strip combined with some long subways above and below to reduce the amount of pattern in the rest of the kitchen. It might mean having to remove part of the tile already installed and replacing part of it with subways. Subways are generally inexpensive. I would also be very careful selecting the flooring, make sure it does not have a lot of pattern. You already have two busy surfaces already don't add a third.

This is exactly why you shouldn't opt for a busy pattern. Are you going to take it up to close in the raised section? It would look better. Also, how are you going to end the edges of the tile? Pencil tile can give it a more finished look.

Definitely wait and let it grow on you! Tearing out backsplash is not an easy gig as you probably know. Once it's all finished, decorate it with lots of greys, find a piece that then becomes the focal point and it may downplay the backsplash!
