This is kind of a silly poll. It really isn't asking which country has the best style but which single room conceived by a single designer is more pleasing to the viewer.

I did vote for the US but only because that particular room is most in line with my personal style.

Why anyone would think we have the best style when we have such rotten taste is beyond me. We are the greatest country in many, many ways but not in style. The Italians have us beat hands down. Even the French beat us at our own game when it came to Art Deco, although the Italians nailed the French on that style too.

I agree with efpico. I don't know all the other countries preferences in décor. But, I do know that the US has quite a range of styles and while I liked the US picture, I've seen other pictures that I felt represented the US as well if not better.

For me best stily in America. I am from Belarus, where people make American style , many difference as here in Austria

What happened to Canada? Not the same as the US.

This was next to impossible especially since they are all designer rooms and do not really depict the true living quarters of these countries. So, I went with Italy because they have the best looking men! (I'm bad, I know!)

Canada by far is on the forefront of style and design why are they not listed here?

Interesting that the majority of people voted for the U.S. but most of the comments were from people who chose other styles. Do we automatically think that we are the best at EVERYTHING without even stopping to think about it?

I couldn't see photos that represented the countries. I chose the US because we take all the great ideas from all the other countries and put them together to make our own style....

I love French, Danish and Swedish influences in design and furniture. Why I selected the US because you can incorporate and purchase many of the designs and furnishing in the States. In Europe you have mostly that country's influence and that is mostly your only choice. Plus, if you ever lived in Europe it is difficult to be able to afford and find many of the designs that we see into apartment living, especially if you are living on a budget.

Canadian homes have diverse and great style.

I found the US version the busiest of all these contemporary rooms--full of stuff and crowded. Most of the others were more spare and understated. They didn't hit us over the head so much--or in the knee, trying to navigate around a huge coffee table. :)

Absolutely love Italian especially their al fresco courtyards.

Each country has its own twist..... Idid not find these photos to be representative.... I did choose the Japanese minimalism picture yet, if I were in the USA I would have found the Italian designers to do the best job of minimalism. followed by the Scandinavians.

Since Canada was not included, I chose Italy for their streamlined, modern style.

IMHO they were too much the same in decorating 'styles'. If the pictures had not been labeled as to what country, I don't think I could've pick out any rooms by country except for maybe the French one.

Going by these pics, I think I like Australia. But, without these specific pics, I think I'd choose Japan.

I did not look at pics at first, I have seen things from all these countries i love, including the canadians. I chose the US because I am from there, really no other reason. once i looked at the pics, I found them all to be very white wash modern, and having seen that, oh how awful of me, I liked the russian room.

The Spanish room for sure. It has awesome windows and flooring, simple furniture with items that look like a real person chose them, and pretty pops of blue.

I did not look at the pictures. I'm torn between three U.K., France, and Italy. After I voted for France, I looked at the pictures. None of those pictures really appealed to me personally. I prefer farmhouse/country cottage style. The thing is, every region of every country has style differences, and so it is really hard to vote based on the pictures presented in the poll.

I'm having to agree with havingfun about the Russian room. While I like the style of the US room, you almost can't see anything for all the stuff in there. So for me, first Russian, second US or UK, either one.

Well, hit vote on Spain rather than the picture. Like it anyway.

Greece is missing, white and blue, simple with sea views

Belgian. Good hybrid between Dutch (sometimes austere) and French (without being too fussy).

i like some old italy and spanish, but a lot tends to be over the top and much of the modern is just too modern. Same with french, i like but sometimes over, no? I am sure everyone would love to see good examples of the ones everyone is promoting.

I liked the russian, because it is the only one I think i could move in and live most seemed like what can i do with white gray black and then one off. The uk felt a little too bright.

Well, i will give a vote for all south america, central America and Canada. That is my part of the world, surely they have a unique style? I have seen some of the south and central americans, no knowledge of Canadian? Who has something to say about india, middle east, china- that is some pretty big property, with some pretty old decorating, no?

I chose French style before seeing any of these photos because I prefer a more formal style, layered with antiques and luxurious fabrics. However, after reviewing each of these photos, I wasn't impressed with any of them. They seem empty, cold and soulless, lacking imagination and creative design. If this is the best they offer I wouldn't choose any of them.

What a fascinating poll. I like a sense of place, whether traditional or modern. I'd happily live with traditional or modern of any country, as long as it is strongly suggestive of place.

But the US raises the question: What is American style? The interiors that go with a New England colonial? A Seattle craftsman style? A prairie ranch house? A brick tidewater house? A creole cottage? A desert adobe? A Florida Caribbean? A house by Frank Lloyd Wright or Walter Gropius? With America's diverse climates, complex history, and multiple traditions, we certainly have the most options. Maybe that gives us the most fun!

I liked the big, cozy furniture and down-home feel of Russia the best!
