Thank you. It is called Natural slate, porcelain. Pretty flat, but not smooth. The grout is slate color and is somewhat receded, likely due to the thickness of the porcelain back.

Check with the manufacturer regarding cleaning products to use/avoid. Seal it with a high quality product if you have not already done so. My tile guy uses TileLab SurfaceGard, but there might be something better/different for porcelain.

As far as I know--No, you cannot glaze porcelain tile. Is it the edges, the surface, or both that is making it impossible to clean? Do you like this tile? Sorry for asking, but you mentioned your husband loved it---never said whether you did or not.

I do like the tile, although I'd prefer glass, - easier to wipe off. The edges are the problem.

I will contact the manufacture to see about a proper finish, as suggested by Natalie. Thanks.
