We are building a new home and I do not want the latest trend of "white kitchen." Our home style will be mix of European/Old World/Mediterranean. My cabinets will be cream with a dark hand-scraped wood floor. I have a 6' x 9' island and want it to be special. We found a slab of White Spring we liked, but it is perhaps "too safe" even though really pretty. Then we ran across a gorgeous slab of Carnival but are undecided as it is quite a statement and may be too overwhelming. I would use black galaxy (with gold and rust sparkles) across the back wall of my kitchen and butler pantry. We have the Carnival on hold for a couple of weeks and hope I can get other's opinions who have put in this type of granite or have any experience with it. My fabricator mentioned I might get tired of it quicker than a more subdued look. Any opinions, stories, advice would be appreciated!
