I'm trying to pull things together after knocking down a wall, and turning this counter, which was formerly a peninsula, into an island. Three sides of it are "new" and ready to paint. The facing side still has the existing finish, which I realize will need prepping before painting. As you see, I still have much to do, but my most pressing question regards the island. It is topped with New Venetian Gold. What color would be best, and should it be enamel, or what? I am leaning toward a dark color, and I'd prefer SW paint, but will use whoever makes the best shade. This room adjoins the small den in the next picture. Anything else you see that might enhance things, please feel free to mention. I need counter stools, and also need to address the windows.
