Marshadraskovich, I like the matchstick window treatment idea. My mom seems to want the bed to stay in that corner, but I will show her all suggestions that come in, and maybe she will be open to advice from all of you creative folks out there!

Marsha's idea to move the bed makes sense from the pictures. What is your mom's reason for keeping the bed there? Is there something we don't see in the pictures?

I like the bed and it shouldn't take much to fix up the room.

Moving the bed would make it more adult-like. In it's current location, it looks like a child's room. It would also make the room more functional.

Hi! Since "coastal" can mean different things to different people, I've found some pictures that may help your mother narrow down the look she wants. Then we can start making more specific suggestions. Hope these help!

This is not coastal coloration, but I think the concept of building in shelving around the bed placed under the window, could take you there.

Since moms don't always like too much change how about adding short window treatments to match the bedding (which I think is pretty cool) and a matching throw rug...add a narrow bookshelf or chest under the window..and some beachy art on the wall spaces that need it..looks like there is space on the wall to the left or at the end of the bed for a tiny tv..this is always an added plus for guests that just want to go to their room for a little rest or privacy..
