I would add in color through a stack of books, a vase, picture frame, etc. It needs some life there as everything is very neutral. Right now the focal point is the TV, but with the right accessories and pops of color you can have a beautiful display in that space.

I believe the OP is referring to the space above the TV that we cannot see clearly in the picture that was provided.

Yes, I am talking about the space where the floral arrangement is. I have had that for about 10 years and feels like it looks dated and as you can see in the picture, I have another floral arrangement on my mantle and that has a twin on the other side of the mantle

The space seems rather dark.

I suggest some sparkly surfaces that would lighten it up and bounce light around the room, i.e., decorative vases, silver framed photos, etc.

Remove the one flower arrangement above the TV & have custom doors or faux doors applied. Also remove one of the two arrangements on the mantle & add something of more substance.
