A photo of the floor and cabinets would help a lot to give suggestions.

HI -- Just stay with one material for a backsplash including behind the stove . If you mix it up with too many colors and pattern , it will be too much for a small area. Have you looked at a cream or antiqued white . The all dark would be dramatic but it shows spots too much . Visit some tile showrooms or kitchen design shops to see full setups if you can . There are so many beautiful tiles now and it is best to see in person. Look up your kind of granite on Pinterest and see if examples are there . Or on Houzz for photos of the same and see what comes up.

Oh! One more very important thing. Change the electrical outlets so you won't have ugly interruptions with your beautiful tile. (sample in the above photo too). An electrical strip hidden under the cabinets will do the trick. Under cabinet lighting will also shine on your beautiful tile and give you good layered lighting. Something like this...

Yes! all the same subway tile throughout otherwise kitchen will look chopped up.

I am just loving that blue glass subway tile -very pleasing with your beautiful granite, very fresh yet classic, not predictable and a nice change!

Have you considered losing the honey color in your floors and going with a gray stain or even charcoal?

And of course you are fried living through a kitchen reno with 2 little ones! You're a trooper!

The dark gray tile looks too dark. If I had to pick I like the blue better, but I really like the medium gray that Darzy posted or a lighter gray

Yes, tell hubby his tile selection is so pretty let's ONLY do your glass tile. :) (A tad lighter gray).

Not crazy about the blue, as I think you'll get sick of it after a year or two. The other one is way, way too dark in my opinion given the fact that your counter is fairly dark. And I think the last tile for above the oven is too busy given your countertop as well. So I would actually do a simple white subway tile. Handmade if possible so it had more visual interest and reflected light in a non-uniform way. And I would tile all the way to the ceiling above the window as in the photo that Darzy posted. Just my two cents.

I agree with Darzy that a lighter grey glass tile would work nicely in your kitchen. Another very low price option for the outlets is to simply replace the white covers with stainless steel covers sold in any major hardware store.

to clarify: these samples are subway tiles in different shades, correct? You are abandoning the blue which is my fav cuz it is a punch that is not predictable and tired. Think about your family's personality and who you all are.

Definitely run them horizontally - vertically is sometimes done, not often, and only works in a very edgy, modern application.
